Yaoi Fans vs. Yuri Fans:

Jesus as in Revelations
If ony porn came into a format where heat and smell could be represented.

I like the way you think, Raw.

Jesus as in Revelations
What would kissing and skinlicking be like without taste.

Brave New World that has such people in it.
You knew I'd change it.
I figured it out!

The reason yaoi fans and yuri fans don't fight is that for every yaoi pairing, there's also an acceptable yuri pairing and vice versa!

Always Right
Thread Hop!

Only read first and last page, but...has anyone ever asked why there are so much more Yaoi fans than there are Yuri fans? How come?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."
Gunpla is amazing!
I can't help but feel either Yuri fans are a bit more...I dunno...restrained?

And, I hate to make it sound like there is a double standard, but I think its SLIGHTLY more acceptable for girls (at least in the anime scene) to laugh about yaoi.

If I went to a convention and a bunch of guys ran around and saw 2 girls and went "SQUEEE MAKE OUT" they'd get arrested.

[up][up] Let's see, it's likely combination of these three:

  • The Girl-on-Girl Is Hot ideal is actually quite overstated.
  • Males don't like romance/shipping as much as females generally do.
  • Many males dislike empathizing with female characters.
and that's how Equestria was made!

Males don't like romance/shipping as much as females generally do.

You do realize how sexist that sounds, right?

[up][up] Men very much do empathize with women. It is part of the reason which a lot of porn focuses on the face. The emotion that a woman is experiencing during sex is a key component to how arousing the whole thing is for men. It's just that we in general do not require the emotional foreplay.

Orbs
[up] Considering the various posts on the subject I've read on these forums, I'd like to doubt that "males in general" don't need "emotional foreplay" - I am male and utterly HATE the 'Jump straight into naked sex'-attitude of a lot of porn, and I am not the only person who has that opinion.

[up] No doubt. The key words are 'generally' and 'require'. Male arousal is just an undeniably more physical reaction. But as any man can attest a good lead up greatly improves the.... turgidity of your experience.

[up]Yes.

Also Yaoi creeps me out, especialy the whole uke/seme thing.
SAVOUR OF THE UNIVERSE!
[up]Also very yes.

I'm mostly a yuri fanboy, but either thanks to or not, my friend made me into somewhat of a yaoi fan indirectly. She's suddenly become absurdly obsessed with Kirk/Spock shipping in Star Trek, which I introduced to her accidentally. (I was more of a sciency-Star Trek fan and less so for the relationships)

It's getting sorta ridiculous. To the point where she's started telling me she doesn't need a real relationship as long as she has Kirk and Spock, and we've both joked that she's practically married to the fandom. But overall it doesn't bug me that much.

Kanaya, it's hard. Being a kid growing up. It's hard and no one understands.

Wow, I've read most of it, and I just have to have to say one thing... Wrong!

Yaoi is not the majority, because most males don't even look at straight porn anymore - just single female porn, and then they mix it together with Yuri, and that takes up 75% of the internet. I have to go through hundreds and thousands of pages just to find a decent male picture. I've found a lot, but I've a lot more female stuff. If anything traditional m/f porn is rare. It goes like this...

Female single Lolicon *shivers* 1/2 Yaoi (cute guys and emo's) Yuri (any type - all) Male and female Male Other half of yaoi (burly muscular guys) Shotacon Mechs and other fetishes etc, but even most of those are female. No joke.

I like Gundams, and I only ever find females!

You can't begin to imagine how annoying it is for us slightly strange type gays - dealing with all your girl stuff. I even type a male character in and get pictures of girls - non related. Why!?

Probably because they put false tags on the workd to annoy people...

Oh hey this thread still exists.

Random bitch: I can never find decent porn of females with furry art, but wonderful porn of males. I love me my gay male furries, but god dammit man...I want my yuri...

There's a wonderful place called Gelbooru. Unlike a similarly named site, you can search multiple tags and there are many more pictures to go through.
Since I never posted in this topic before...

@OP Theres no rivalry because their interests never conflict with each other. Now imagine if an uploader site took out a bunch of 18+ mangas labelled Yaoi and ____, fans of both genres will be pissed and go to the forums and try to defend their genre, when this situation happens, the two genres may start up a rivalry with the two sides slipping in some potshots at the other side.

"Please, there's nothing that bad about yaoi! Now ____ on the other hand is sick, and I agree with you for removing that stuff, but please bring back the yaoi!"

...you haven't seen some of the fans I have then. They make the interests conflict. I have no fucking clue why either...

I posted an example...granted, the conflict came absolutely no where. I was a neutral observer, but I did notice how staggering the number of yaoi fans are compared to all the other fandoms.

Anime clubs are bad places. BAD PLACES.

That's Manga Fox, an upload site. The incident, funny enough, took place at the exact time of The Great Crash on TV Tropes.

Someone reported Manga Fox and a bunch of other upload sites, and well...shit happened. The forums were a source of drama.

And I had to actually download my Kodomo No Jikan now...and thanks to my annoying desire to have every single chapter of a series or not at all...I had to dl 100+ chapters that day.
And I don't join anime clubs. One thing I noticed is...they take time away from studying, and........my taste differs greatly from other fans in where I live. Damn popular series that I'm not a fan of...
