Some of the threads were destroyed as a result of Fast Eddie cleaning out the forums at least, including Visual Arts, but I don't think that was an automatic thing.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

I think it is an auto thing Eddie implemented. All the threads that haven't had any action for 30 days were cleared out because we don't like virgins here IGNORE THAT JOKE!

He ran an auto cleaner that swept every thread that hadn't had any activity in 30 days once. I don't know whether he's planning on doing it again; personally, I hope not.

^ I'm with ya there, it ate a couple things before I archived them. (The main thread was one I had put chapter titles in and it got eaten. At the least I wanted all the titles. Oh well.)
Given the fact I ship out to basic in 29 days I hope he doesn't do it again until like August. I have a couple threads here in Writer's Block I would rather not get deleted. (The Equipment Thread and Make Boss Subtitles For Your Characters)

While I'm gone for 9 weeks at BCT? And then with limited (if at all) access to TV Tropes in the 13 weeks I'm at AIT? How do I bump topics if I can't physically get to them?
I could write a script that would automatically do so every three weeks, but I don't like the thought of botting my handle.

I went back through the mod threads and after that first one he reconsidered. The leftmost and center columns will no longer be auto-dumped.

Yay!! ...What about the RPG forums? I think the sign-up thread for an RP I'm in got deleted, so I can't check to see who joined before, or people's character profiles )= (unless I also can't find that one, but I'm pretty sure I looked thoroughly enough...) .
It's depressing all the content already lost now (that links thread, I wish it had been stickied...), but maybe I'll check back here more often now XD . After I realized what probably happened in here and World Building, I got depressed and didn't want to check back anymore, thinking it'd all probably get deleted eventually... But now I guess I don't have to worry.

I heart IJBM was regularly having old threads past a certain date deleted or something to clear up space, but this is happening for ALL the forums, including this one? I can understand the reasoning, but Writer's Block, World Building and Visual Arts are slow-as-shit-excuse-my-language enough already, and the content of the threads have more, well, content than the huge-fast-moving-chit-chat places like Yack Fest/IJAM/IJBM/etc.. I can't find the old Links thread, that was super-helpful but I never saved it (can someone else find it, or is it really gone?) ! And there were a bunch of 'write a summary of your setting/magic system/etc.' threads in world-building that were interesting to reference, I can't find some of them anymore. I'm kind of afraid to search more because the thought of them GONE FOREVER makes me really depressed.
Then again, I suck at searching, so if anyone else knows of the threads I'm talking about, am I just being a n00b and I just missed them somehow? If so, links please!
