I think their was an interview where Gamefreak said they wouldn't do a Grey version.

That was debunked a long while back. Satoshi Tajiri heard about it and was surprised at the rumor.

Which could be covering tracks, you know how Nintendo can be, the Pokemon company is still a subsidiary of Nintendo and their policies could easily infect Game Freak after all these years togetherwishful thinking on my part.

Knowing how Nintendo can be, I would think that they would gladly approve of more remakes of their Cash Cow franchise to squeeze more money out of the same generation without having to invest the resources needed to make another full-blown game.

I'm kind of bummed now that Viz has no current plans to do the R/S/E chapters. I'm still staying optimistic about it though.

Someone asked, and Viz implied they'd release the third gen arcs if there was a big enough demand for it. Since we can't rely on the kids since they don't know it exists to begin with, the older fans started emailing Viz asking for it. There's also a petition online with several hundred signatures so far and counting (but so many other people have told me it's probably going to be ignored T-T). Time will tell if it works. I really hope so, because I really want to own physical copies of the FRLG arc badly.

You'd need more than a few hundred signatures to show them it's worth it. When the audience for the games is in the millions, you're looking at needing probably near a five-digit number.

Yeah, but like I said, who's going to ask for it if they don't know it exists?

Well Volume 14 came today (stupid delay) and I can read this and read the R/S/E stuff online but I'd still rather have it personally.

We just got the ending to the HG/SS arc (shortest one thusfar)...before the Platinum arc's even finished. I really hope they get the climactic chapters to Platinums' arc out soon so we can get closure on that. And I still don't care much about the B/W arc.

HGSS is probably going to get a huge revamp; it barely had any time in the magazines. The DP ending and the Platinum one both got major revisions in the official volume release. Platinum's probably going to end up being around two and a half volumes; short, yes, but it's ultimately a direct continuation of the DP arc, which indeed has been the longest arc so far.

And ultimately, I'm hoping BW will stave off official volume release just until the third version comes out. I expect major plot changes in the third game which Kusaka will have to work into the current, ongoing plot.

And shit just got real: Gigi forces herself to fight back as she and White are alone with N in the Nimbasa Ferris Wheel.

Huh. I was actually enjoying the GS arc there, but then it got all "ROCKS FALL EVERYONE DIES, fart around with Red for the rest of the volume and then jump into the next completely unrelated arc!" Gee, wonderful.

[up] What do you mean "completely unrelated arc?" The Crystal one? That's part of the exact same storyline. Gold and Silver come back to join Crys in volume 12 and they still have to stop the Masked Man and his Team Rocket forces. It's still in Johto! How did you not get that?

DSFUIOWEROW#)#Q)AOAOWQ!@!#!

HOLY FUCK shit just REALLY got real in the BW arc.

Thanks to Coronis's summaries, we have now learned that Gigi abandons White and decides to join N, leaving White to fall out of the Ferris Wheel by herself. White is then left as a crying sobbing wreck on the ground below, probably with several broken bones.

[up][up]Yeah, it takes place in the same region and the old characters come back eventually. That's nice, really, it is. At the moment it's left the two human characters I actually liked for dead/kidnapped/I don't even know so we can watch some random girl catch Pokemon and Suicune run around challenging people who are barely relevant to the plot. Even if it's supposed to be part of the same plot it feels completely unrelated. And I don't like it. :/

[up]I see BW has taken the Grimdark route. Nice.

[up][up][up] I REALLY hope this is the turning point for White's character. She's going to have to really step up and be a good trainer and fight to win her pokemon back over to her, giving her much needed Character Development. N is still a jerk, but SLIGHTLY less of one and more understandable; able to talk without resorting to violence.

And I'm sure that seeing the tough, tomboyish looking character a "sobbing wreck" is going to spark Real Women Never Wear Dresses reactions from many people. Sigh, Fan Dumb.....

That's...really shallow of you. And Crystal isn't "some random girl"; she's as much the main character as Gold and Silver are. And both Suicune AND the Gym Leaders are not "barely relevant to the plot" at all; they're all important for the entirety of the last two volumes of this arc!. If you don't have enough patience for that, then you'd best quit reading Special, as most of the following arcs focus on characters split up on multiple quests.

[up]Given that her personality in the manga is opposite of her Memetic Badass persona in the fandom, I doubt too many people will have that reaction.

Considering Special's White was hit upside the head a half dozen times with the chick stick, I don't see how. a sobbing wreck is in-character with this portrayal.

I've been giving Black and White a chance just because, and developments like that are things I like to see in a story. Is there anywhere online you can find untranslated scans of Black and White special?

[up] Don't you mean how it ISN'T in-character for this portrayal?

And it can't be Chickification if White didn't start out tough or the character she's based on had no established personality to start with.

If you pick the male character, White/Hilda shows up with a small mountain of very well trained Pokémon to help you in the Battle Subway. And pretty damn well, too. I remember her carrying my team when I went through the first few times.

It might be stretching a bit to look to that as her characterization, but there you go.

Huh, So becuse of the Fact that Pokemon Black And White are a slightly more complex story wise and has much darker main villain, the manga author did the same thing for the Pokemon Special version of the story.

Interesting...

Funny thing at /vp/. Nearly everybody feels for White and hopes that one day she will kick the asses of N and Gigi. ^-^ I think it's safe to say that Gigi is the one who will forever have The Scrappy label stuck on her forever.

[up] Well considering how weak White's been and has been using her pokemon for nothing but business, I can kind of see Gigi's point in leaving her. And while I don't agree with N, I can see his too. White may have not been "listening to her pokemon" enough.
