I lost my illegitimate copy, and my uncle lost my legitimate one. Tried to buy from gog.com, but their version of PayPal is retarded and won't allow me to use money on the account without verifying a credit card.

I think it's safe to say my alien team lead by a velociraptor probably spent their spare time maiming random humans for fun, especially the Hunter member. >_>

Oh, if you have multiplayer, try Invasion. Shit is so cash.
I think you can get it from Steam, too.

Yeah, but it was $15 dollars, gog.com had a sale on it for 6 bucks. (now it's 9. sadface)

Just going to Necro this thread out of respect of the game. Thought it would be better than making a new topic.

Say wha? UT 99's servers are shutting down? Seriously? And just when I'd considered installing my copy of UT - Game of the Year Edition too.. sad

I got that, Unreal Gold and UT 2004 for $3 from a thrift store just after Christmas last year. Funny thing is, I (like Rocket Dude) had these before thanks to the Unreal Anthology (it came preinstalled on the computer I bought from a friend), but lost them when I uninstalled Anthology thanks to a map having a virus in it. Only game I'm missing from the Anthology now is Unreal II. Oh yeah, and I need a license key for my copy of UT 2004, the copy I bought apparently did not come with one.

[up]Lucky and unlucky too.

I only have UT 2004 (and I'm thirteen, which is even further baffling) and I bought the expansion version on Amazon. I have a pretty old computer too, so ONS - Torlan pretty much runs at a crawl. tongue

Getting a new computer this summer though, and going to get UT 3.

I honestly thought no one would post here though. I just Necroed it to see what would happen. Glad someone's turned up.

There is a steam group dedicated to playing UT 99 and UT 2004 here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/specksunreal The group is dedicated for just playing the game for fun, any skill level is welcome and everyone there is pretty chill. There is usually around 8+ players Whenever they host a match.

Too bad I don't have internet on my own computer. (it's complicated)

I've booted up a demo of UT 2004 on my friends computer. There are a metric shitton of servers. Unsurprisingly, there are no bombing run servers. I'm going to install the full game on my parent's computer, while I wait to turn fifteen and get my own internet connection. I hope there are still tropers out there who play this game.

I just d/l'ed and installed the "Ballistic" mutator for UT2004...

I've shot the M-16, the M-249 and used the M-203 in basic....

I'm in wuv!!!!!

The weapons handle just like their RL counterparts and the effects are awesome.

This breathes new life into the game...it's like I got my $30.00 back!!

Seriously, d/l this mutator.

That all you got?
I forget, was 2004 the one where you just played through a bunch of different game modes and had no actual plot, and ended with you fighting the rest of your team?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.

[up]There was a plot?

Meh, I skipped the single player, didn't care one whit. I just wanted to unwind and shoot things. Half-life had a nice plot, Quake was my other guilty pleasure, but UT and UT 2004 had more maps, cooler mods and more weapons.

By the power of geek!
I'm thinking of picking this up because I recently transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming and I miss Halo. Do people still play it online?
Look at me still talking when there's science to do

For those who still care. While digging through the game's intestines, I found the AI control classes. I now have confirmation that The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard indeed: the function that updates a bot's threat rating of all enemies assigns extra weight to human players. We always suspected that this was the case, but I found the actual code that does this and spent most of this afternoon writing a mutator to bypass it.

I also found an interesting piece of code in the Bombing Run squad AI: if a bot has the human player on its team, it is forbidden from passing the ball to anyone but the human player. Even if there's a teammate far closer to the enemy base, if it's not human-controlled, the bot will not even consider it a valid target for passing. I personally consider this bullshit, so I deactivated this restriction too.

If possible, I also intend to find a way to inject this mutator into the singleplayer ladder and see how different an experience will the game be then. Noobish or not, fair play is fair play.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
