Boom! Payoff. I can't imagine what the test administrator will think, but at this point I think the test is if not out of his control, then at least outside of what he intended.

Clever using that emotional appeal as a distraction though.

This week has just been great for me. Thank you you wonderful authors. Really.

Everything I wanna say about the chapter has been said already. Well, almost everything. The Yeon-Violer dynamics will be really interesting... Like Crazy said, "kinky".

Wangnan's emotional appeal was really cool especially since he used it as a distraction. And Teddy showing just who he really is was friggin' awesome. Just look at that wing design! Also, hurrah for Wangnan punching Lurker! Make that bastard hurt! smile

SIU's afternote makes me think that that Viole will fail the test.

Man, ToG has some Epic Mood Whiplash just too chapters ago a sympathetic character was brutally murdered after revealing a tragic back story. This chapter, Viole literally saves the day by teasing a sexually frustrated girl. And yet S.I.U makes it work. That takes some skill.

Well he could have saved the day by killing her, but that might have left a bad taste in some people's mouth.

Well Viole might have changed during those five years, but I'm pretty sure he's still against killing people he has no beef with if he can help it - otherwise he would just slaughtered the other regulars instead of going after a ranker.

Not to mention Yeon role is apparently to serve as counterbalance to Viole's moodiness, so she's not going anywhere any time soon.

But I have to say, it was pretty shrewd of Viole to provoke her like that. He sure has grown. tongue

He's still getting trolled (and he may know it, even if he suspects it from only one of the quarters). Don't know about anybody else, but I keep seeing in my mind's eye a smile with eyes where there really shouldn't be any with ears sat on top of it that are just that little bit too long.

After all, one of the reasons he might have frozen up a bit after Wangnan went... epic... was because what he said could also apply to Viole's relationship with FUG as much as to Zarhard's rule relates to the Regulars. <shrugs> Maybe.

Without knowing it, Wangnan may have hit multiple targets with that speech of his.

[down]Yes-no: FUG didn't accept him via the Coffee Machine and Headon (very probably) for nothing, you know. They have an agenda when it comes to him. We don't know what it is, though. Or how much they've told him about it. Or what part, exactly, they played in Rachel's little betrayal of him (or for how long they may have used him and her before this). Although we can guess the why (to some degree). Yes, he gains cameo. But. It's not for free, most likely.

If anything I think it's Viole who is using FUG, not the other way around. Just a convenient cover.

Also he was adopted by the FUG leader didn't he?

It's a relationship that benefits both sides more likely. Maybe both sides think that they are playing the other, and we shall see whom is played by whom the best in the end.

I heard and interesting theory that the mission FUG gave Viole was to fight ranker on every floor and copy their techniques.

It could be that... or "try to fail everybody. If the Ranking Administrator pulls shit you can't get out of, fail the most-likely to pass, and pass the failures to undermine the system". We don't have a clue what his conditions are. <shrugs>

Love could be bang on the money — or just a bit off.

EDIT: I take that back... we have clues. SIU always drops clues. It's just working out what the heck they add up to that's the hard bit. evil grin

The greatest clues would be the winning and losing conditions set in the rules of the game. For instance, if you press both buttons at once, you change teams. Or, if a controller breaks, you are disqualified. Those little details will be important later on.

Kinda off-topic, not not far away:-

I've opened a discussion on the Tower Of God page. If you're interested in working on said page/ have worked on the page, give it a gander, pretty please. And, drop a line. With a cherry and whipped cream on top. <cute kitty-cat eyes of surpassing shininess> wink

<bleary> Ack! Forgot to check Batoto! Tropage is not good for the habits.

I didn't used to read the raws... until it hit me that braving Naver might be a small way I can actually help SIU. I might not be the traffic Naver is looking for, but it's something.

[up][up][up][up] Just as often the rules can be red herrings though. Or possibly just there to show how much the Test Administrator has thought this through.

[up][up][up] I'll have to take a look sometime.

I'm thinking of collecting a few fridge and nightmare fuel moments and shoving them at the pages in some semi-random fashion. I'd like some input, you you guys don't mind, as for this, many minds make the best work. Help, please! smile

OK — fridge horror for me, at least: Lurker's dealing with Nia. And, just when you thought the organ donation was probably overseen/ done by doctors... *bang*

Nightmare fuel, regular: HEADON.

High Octane Nightmare Fuel: A place that has a high-death rate and betrayal culture as a normal, built-in and promoted part of its, apparently, functioning society? And, is convinced that this is not just reasonable, but the only way the world works? Worse, for a little bit of fridge: start comparing it to existent societies and sub-cultures in Real Life as you drift off to sleep. Sweet dreams.

HONF, Adult Fear version: Played with with Yoghurt Lady. She may have been out to just betray, but, not just Arkraptor's Papa Wolf instincts would've been raised by some of those images. <shivers> It looked too much like kidnap or something worse was about to happen.

Fridge Brilliance: Practically very side-swipe SIU's served up that hit even with all the clues dropped way ahead of time. One such Chekovs Gun was Lurker's destruction of the door-handle on his very introduction.

Rachel's point of view of Baam's test apart from being indicated the first time we saw it, there is more. When you look at it, not only couldn't Baam hear her, she got it without the sound as well (very probably). She had no idea what he was saying or why he was doing any of the insane stuff, except what she could probably guess. Way to crank the guilt. Nor would she get why Baam was randomly getting help from others, either, what with not hearing Yuri and Evan's reasons. Way to crank the jealousy.

I would not call that a "crush." It is more of a "foreboding feeling of how a fight would turn out." (I understand that that probably is the reason you put in the smiley, but I want to clear up any confusion before it starts)

I'm a little sad that the author had to explain all that in his afterword. I thought it was reasonably clear even if I didn't catch all the emotional details.

As for the chapter itself... nice technique at the end there! Most interesting bit is the fact that Prince will be on the team. Who wants to bet he will be the character with the most development over the next arc?

Him and Prince in the same space for an extended period of time? It'll be a learning experience, all right... [lol] Can't say for sure who would be doing most of the learning. [lol]

I don't know about Prince's reactions being based on fear; he had little sparklies of admiration hanging around him. It's certainly a quick 180 of good ol' purple hair.

There's also this small part of me that's wondering if Viole really did decide be a team player, or if Wangnan tricked him. If he had switched Viole's connector with his own…

Lol, from Viole's perspective Prince is about as significant as a bug. He'll probably just ignore him, Wangnan on the other hand will not stand for Prince bullshit.

What will put Viole in a pinch is Yeon, who might become bit too hmmm... friendly for the standoffish Viole to feel comfortable. And THAT will be hilarious.

Teddy's a beast. I'm kinda glad we haven't seen what he can do yet.

Wangnan being the better man and vowing to change the system sent chills down my spine. You always know how to move me SIU.
