So, Tropers can do music too, right?:

Oh my, I just found out that this thread is my main source of non-metal music.

That's comforting, considering that was my intent ^_^

So, I guess I officially have a fake chillwave band called Sounds Of The 70's now. The vocals are kind of a deliberately tuneless, incoherent Perishing Alt Rock Voice parody and I made up both the melody and lyrics as I went along, but I think the actual instrumental is kinda pretty and I might reuse it for something more serious.

I dunno why, the music kinda makes me think of Coldplay.

The singing, though, that's hilarious XD

New song: short, metal-less and with chiptune.

some unfinished beats for a hip hop project I aim on finishing sometime this year. They all fade out prematurely because of the whole "unfinished" thing. Not sure if it'll be a full album or EP, or if it's going to "Mike K" or "Quetzalcoatlus" or what. What I do know is that I want the instrumentals to mainly be new ones, because I want to get a friend to do the mixing and I don't have the individual tracks for a lot of my earlier material.

[up] Those are pretty cool. The second one is definitely a bit rough, but I see some potential with these. The third one especially was giving me a strong El-P vibe, for some reason.

[up] Pretty cool.

Here's me trying to invoke the late 80s/early 90s House scene. And here's a Justice-esque track I made with a sample from The Idolmaster.

[up] I definitely liked the house track. What'd you build that in?
Until you have a MAJORITY of the fans screaming and damning the creators to hell for what they're doing wrong, it's not a real fandom.

I completely and utterly wasted the past four hours working on a song; details at this link to a different forum post.

It's always annoying when you find something wrong with a song and don't know what it is, or if you do, can't seem to fix it for the life of you.

Agreed. It just feels like a wasted effort after all that.

Or a "take one"...no, I can't even say "take 1" due to how much I was rerecording and rerecording parts of it.

I'm curious, what were those violins sampled from? It sounds familiar. Either way, I like it, it sounds classy but not too much so.

So, I just recorded a cover of "Pocketful of Sunshine" in which I turned it into a Dylanesque 3/4 folk song. (I GUESS YOU COULD CALL IT A POCKETFUL OF 3/4 TIME! *is slapped*) Anyone care for me to post it up?

1. I sampled them from... one of the Evangelion movies. Don't remember which.

2. Of course. That's what the thread's for.

Really like the chord progression there. Sorta reminded me of Chaos Angel from Sonic Advance 3 at one point.

Here's me doing a 16-bit funky/jazzy rendition of Bloody Tears.

It's a funny story, without having heard the song in months, I just decided to make up my own chord progression for it, and it turned out (after later looking it up out of curiosity) I got the verses exactly right [lol] I haven't played that game or listened to its music in so long, so I'll look that up later to compare.

And I'm in a class right now, but I'll definitely comment on your piece after I'm out and home and all.

(cross-posted from here)

After mulling it over for at least a month or more, I've decided to finally take a chance and enter the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. For those of you who don't know, the JLSC is a biannual songwriting contest in which contestants from any walk of life can enter as many songs as they like (for $30 per entry) in up to 12 categories, including rock, which is the category in which I entered the following song:

You think so?

By the way, I just remembered I never commented about the Castlevania thing you posted above. I like it, but, then, I'm a sucker for funky jazzy...things.

As for [up], what the hell is that song you remixed? It sounds like a ripoff of "Barbie Girl" as sung by a Vocaloid. Nice dubstep addition though I s'pose—it almost kinda sounds like the '80s pop version of dubstep.
