[up][up][up]TBQH, Son of [Turtle in Latin] sounds too boring, and I doubt putting it in Latin would fix that.

Caputmor Tor (Tor is a word for mountain) might work...

Maybe go with Mt Nigredo, could be a minor piece of Viewers Are Geniuses.

What would be a good name for this roundhouse kick defense combo?

  1. Grab the leg and stomp the anchoring foot.

  2. Pull the ankle upward and hit the knee with your elbow.

  3. With the same elbow, hit the kicker in the jaw.

  4. Follow it by a backhand to the jaw.

  5. Push him down and stomp on his crotch.

That's not a "move" anymore, that's a combo.

And yes, "combo" is sometimes used as a technical term.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I fixed it.

So, what would be the most impressive sounding name for that? "Roundhousekick Counter Combo" sounds cool enough, but I think it could be better. tongue

Just put "dragon" and "tiger" and "claw" and "whirlwind" and it'll be fine.

Really, unless you're going for a Chinese Kung-Fu wuxia feel, you don't need anything but technical terms.

I need an alternate term for 'television'.

How about 'radioscope'?

Radioscope is decent. You may also want to look up other names from the early days of cinematography, like the Eidoloscope, Zoopraxinograph, Phantoscope, &c.

@Kraken - Yeah, since I'm not aiming for a wuxia aesthetics, guess it's name is unnecessary.

I want a name for a fictional drug that increases the human strenght to superhuman levels (has a similarity to Bane's Venom drug). Could anyone give me names for such a drug ? You can tell me any name or idea of name that comes in your mind about this. Also I would really like to be a name that ends with "...om" like Venom.

I've got a short story about a battle couple who get married after WWII but run into trouble because at peace time, they're different, incompatible people. I need a name for the story itself, something evocative of the time period, I thought about 'The Baby Boom' but I don't think it fits well, since kids aren't really a factor.

[up] That's my reserve idea, but what I'm thinking of something to denote the immediate post-war period, whereas the greatest generation reminds me of folks coming of age during the depression and fighting the war itself.

"Peaced Apart"? Part of me likes the idea of a peace/piece pun, but I'm not coming up with any good ones.

Maybe "The Greatest Challenge" though that's a bit bland.

Or "The War of Cold Dinners"? WWII was followed by the cold war, which could be something to think about.

Well I do like Cold Dinners, but I'd like something a little less indicative of the couple's fate.

On an unrelated note; Gaius Horne, cool name for a magnificent bastard in reality based setting?

Well I have no idea who still names a child Gaius, but Horne is fine. If you feel you have to have a roman bent on the name, go for Virgil. It's still relatively weird, but no where near as rare as Gaius.

Agreed. "Gaius" is not a name you expect to see in a close-to-reality setting.

[up][up][up]In a realistic setting, um, no? Nobody is going to name their kid Gaius. And Horne just sounds like it could be too easily turned into innuendo to be given to any serious character.

I wouldn't worry about the innuendo aspect, but like I said, Gaius doesn't really work.

Suggestions on a name for a Pokemon Trainer? Gen. I era, hails from Kanto, and is female.

I seem to be having an inordinate amount of trouble with this... Thanks!
