You could call him "Adam". It originally comes from the Hebrew adjective for "red" and I *think* it's an innocuous name for most parts of Europe.

I have four companies in this transhuman-industrial complex of mine. They have an Anemoi naming motif with their bases of operations. (In fact, the conglomerate is called Anemoi Industries as of now.) So far, I have:

  • Northwind Magicology: Castle Boreas
  • Westwind Biomedicine: Zephyrus Towers
  • Eastwind Bioengineering: Eurus [...]
  • Southwind Nanotechnology: Notus [...]

Basically, what I need is two more impressive-sounding edifices to fill those holes.

I Have a female alien from a different dimension with severe emotional issues whom of which manipulates everyone from behind the scenes. Yes I swear this makes sense.

...Any ideas?

[up][up], [up][up][up] I was also thinking of 'Palace' for Southwind (seeing how they branched out of bionanotech and into nanotech in everything else). 'Hall' has more castle-like connotations, 'Annex' implies a stronger connection to the others than those others are to each other (wow that's mindbending), and 'Factory', 'Facility, and 'Complex' sound too... businesslike, especially next to their partner Northwind, which is literally based out of a castle.

Thanks anyways, guys.

[up] I'm guessing this alien speaks English? What kind of feel are you going for?

The first thing that came to mind is an overly cutesy name.

I need a name for a race of biomachines. They're around two stories tall and are born of metal deposits. There's also a sister species in which they are around 9-10 feet tall (but are almost extinct due to genocide), so I need a name for them too.

They're for a space opera idea and I can't get past really generic names like "Metalloids" or "Machinas".

So, the Old Ones were a bust and I'm back looking for a name for the race that created the Tyrant Star.

This time I have a canon race but they're without a name.

So, I need that.

[up] Sounds cool and fitting for the near-extinct ones.

I'm thinking it would be easier when I know what their "soul" is called, and derive their names from it.

I wish I came up with that name myself, I stole it from Missionforce Cyberstorm, and I think that stole it from Earthsiege, or else they're part of the same universe. I don't really keep good track of Sierra On Line's non-adventure games.

[up] Well they always say everything has been created before. It's how you use it.

I thought of a name for their soul which is a mix of "Soul" and "energy" in latin to make Anivis. I don't know how to make it sound like they're machines, however.

What about calling them "Autonivis"? It sounds a bit like automaton (or its Latin root) and could be justified as an "auto (self) + Anvis"?

[up] Interesting suggestion, but it reminds me of the Autobots from Transformers. I'll take it for now since this story is in planning stages and I'll probably think of something else down the line.

I need a name for a (male) character with limited powers over probability, with the name somewhat related to luck/fortune. It shouldn't be too obvious, so something like "Luke", "Destin", or "Lucky" would be out of the question.

She is convinced to insist that her lover demonstrate his power, and it ends up destroying her. Naturally, I named her "Semele". Or, since she's Russian, "Семела". Except I'm not sure "Семела" is a name Russian-speaking parents are likely to bestow upon their daughter, even in America. But I want to keep the reference to the myth, or an equivalent from Russian folklore.

What would be a good name for an Antimagical Faction that uses science, technology and Anti-Magic devices? They're trying to stamp out a race called the Gifted, half-human hybrids who have inherent magic powers.

"The Giftbreakers?"

You could also go with something related to what they stand for or seek to achieve; I recall that your "Gifted" were soul-eaters, so perhaps something like "The Soulwardens".
