Bad News on Reviews:

The Reviews have become disconnected from the wiki page they are about, the subject. This is something I did by accident in such an ingenious screw-up that there is no way to use the backup.

To recover from this, each review needs to be hooked back up to its subject. I put a link on the Reviews page ("correct subject" on the upper right) that leads to a tool to do that.

Sorry for this. Totally my fault, trying to do DB maintenance on insufficient coffee level.

Since I haven't gotten an answer to this part of my flood of questions in the relevant thread, any chance of getting a similar option for Live Bloginations?

Yes.

Going to the list of reviews brings up "America's Favorite Cliche Storm". However, there's no way to get from there to the actual review because of the special characters in the name.

EDIT: Nevermind this.

This tiny forest is where all the action is!
Reviews with special characters, such as quotation marks, can't be reached and therefore edited, I hate to say.
^^^ That subject is repaired.

Cool. Now we just need to fix the quotation mark problem. It cuts off where the quote mark is.
^ That's done. Also, there were a bunch that all had the same title but different subjects. Those have been made unique.

[up] It is? It doesn't seem to be working for me. I have two reviews with " marks in their titles that I am unable to edit or load.
Here's an index of all reviews (I hope).

It appears that what happened is that the Work Title variable got overwritten by the "lead-in blurb" variable.

Going in through Review Activity should work.

[up] Awesome. It works now. Thanks!

What are we going to do with all the "[Troper]'s Review #131232" reviews? It's impossible to tell what they belong to since most are only a couple lines.

edited 12th Dec '10 3:48:20 PM by melloncollie

Would it be possible to have a page that lists reviews specifically looking for reviews where the work's title is the same as the review title (or the same as the review title followed by #nnnnn) which would filter out almost all of the ones that are already fixed?

Edit: If you do do this it needs to take into account WikiWords—I saw one with "Or Is It" in there.

And maybe we need an announcement where everyone will notice it, suggesting that people look through their reviews and fix them—a lot of reviews are going to be easier to find by the poster than by anyone else, especially for things like fanfics.

On the bright side, it gives us a chance to clear all the 2-10 word reviews of the site (Stuff like "it's awesome!") as they are almost impossible to link back to the work
I dunno, I kinda like not having to look at the reviews..

This one finds unfixeds for a specific troper. You could look up your unfixeds, for example. Just replace 'retro7' in the url with your handle.

Hrrrm. Any way to do a text body search for reviews? One was added recently (like, in early december) for Quest for Glory, and I cannot find it in the list of new reviews...

Thanks. I just hooked the one I wrote for Bear in the Big Blue House (the only review I've written) back up to the article.

I checked the list and there are a TON of reviews that I moved when I was reformatting the Eva fic rec page that aren't in the list. Are they gone for good?

The "search for your own reviews" feature is a great idea. Since not all tropers visit the forum, how about a note on the Review section itself letting people know what's going on, and containing a direct link to all unfixeds by their own login name? It would probably help a lot.
I moved out all the "x's review #1234" stuff, for now.

Good idea. I'll put that notice on, in a while.

Huh, and I was wondering where all the reviews went. You rascally devil.
