I post from school sometimes, but only one other troper (Beatles) attends my school.

And Landy and wanna certainly do not. I was under the impression wanna didn't even live in the United States.

The only thing I can think of would be when I was using my mom's phone to connect to the internet awhile back. But that was almost a month ago now, would it still register us as being in the same place?

I don't think I have more than three sock puppets but I can only remember one off the top of my head, double checking to be sure.

How very provoking. I bet the number of people with IP issues and mega multiple sockpuppet accounts is statistically pretty minor. Less than 5% of users.

Well, it's a large enough proportion to get five pages of worrying.

grin I like how my title got into the quote.

What I'm getting at is that the worrying may be just a bit over the top. The mods are reasonable people who are also human and may occasionally make mistakes. Not single minded mecha programmed to destroy all that cross their paths.

...Go on then, not high priority but it might as well do well to check how many sockpuppets are linked to my account.

Also, a couple of questions:

1. When will the autoban system take effect? 2. If a troper deletes a sockpuppet identity, what happens to posts made under that sockpuppet?

There are 11 accounts on my IP address, despite me deleting all of those that were sockpuppets.

Because we don't ban people for irrational worry.

Well....

No offense, but that doesn't really answer my questions; I feel like I've not been clear, so in order they are—

  • If I delete an account, do I no longer have to worry about it counting towards the total of ten?
  • Is there any way to axe accounts I have no access to?
  • If (for some reason) the account number remains over the limit, will I be banned?

Or do we not know the answers to these yet?

  • In a general sense? No, because then you could axe accounts that were never yours. With regards to sock-puppets you forgot the password to, we're working on that.
  • The tool does not feel. It cannot be reasoned with. It will destroy you. Though, seriously, see my earlier post about us not unleashing the tool too early.

Ironeye: Okay, so I had 11 on my IP and deleted four (five? I've lost track) that were sockpuppets of mine bringing the total under 10. So I assume I am in the safe zone for now, but what if more people in my IP range join the site?

Might it be possible to set the system up so that it merely informs the mods when a violation occurs? Then they could figure out what's going on before taking action.

The other ones aren't mine, or I don't have access to them.

Three are legitimate tropers (Landy, wanna, and Beatles), one I don't know what it is (the handle is just a bunch of characters) one was a test handle I made to see if Russian letters could be put in handles (they can't) and one is a sockpuppet, I lost the password to both of the latter (Spi Su and Grandmaster Flash, respectively).
