[up]She should totally be a playable character this time around, I think.

He could also supply boss fights by making ordinary enemies from different games grow.

He could also do something similar to this as an Assist Trophy. Break the thing open, he goes flying about and then randomly chooses a fighter and either grows them similar to a Super Mushroom or shrinks everyone else similar to a Lightning Bolt.

As a gag, he could occasionally malfunction and either do the opposite of what he intended (shrinking when he meant to grow, for instance) or cause completely random stuff to happen, similar to Tingle.

I hope more of the adventure enemies are from games. Having Mario enemies was nice, but the rest of the enemies all being OG Subspace Army enemies was kind of a letdown. They could have at least made Metroid enemies since they made the Hammer Bro Assist Trophy an enemy.

The essay was meh. The resulting conversation was mind-numbly stupid, especially on the part of Snakey. It seems that he hasn't come to terms that sometimes people might have different opinions than him and that doesn't make them wrong.

[up][up]No kidding. Sakurai has a good eye as far as enemy design goes, and the Subspace Army was memorable, at least, but I'd like to see, say, an Adventure that has a 50/50 mix of Subspace foes and that region's commander's minions in each stage, i.e.; "King Dedede is attacking Mute City! Captain Falcon fights through waves of Waddle Dees, Primids, and Sir Kibbles on his way to stop the dastardly penguin before a Subspace Bomb goes off!"

That would have been nice to see.

As would fewer original adventure stages; Subspace had a very cool aesthetic, but Skyworld being the only location from a previous game saddened me; The Cave? The Canyon? Why not somewhere familiar?

There was also the Halberd, mind you. But more stages would be nice, too.

Also, speaking of Skyworld, Palutena was pretty much the only character to appear who wasn't a playable character or a boss. More NPC's would be neat.

And yeah, goons from assorted games with a couple of OG enemies mixed in would be nice. One or two OG bosses, too. Galleom 2.0 anyone?

Pretty sure Palutena was only there because she's the only Final Smash that is a separate character from any of the playables.

Galleom has had both ends of Duon mounted on its back as new weapons.

We're all gonna die.

But yeah, I think it'd be best if the Subspace Army were a constant presence within the stages, since it'd establish scale of the threat. Maybe even have a lategame stage wherein the goons of the baddies who've pulled an Enemy Mine charge in to help fight the Subspace Army!

Sorry, but why exactly are you assuming that SSB 4's adventure mode will be a continuation of Subspace Emissary?

To be frank, I liked the Army's character designs. And Subspace itself was really cool and creepy. It'd be a shame to see 'em all disappear, especially since most of the Smash Original Generation stuff has stuck around after its introduction. To my knowledge, the Fighting X teams are the only things that have been replaced.

I don't like the Subspace Army at all, but I must grudgingly admit that they or something very reminiscent of them should probably have a role in any future Smash Brothers story mode type dealies.

Though I still would prefer to see legit, pre-existing enemies take the forefront instead of simply getting Lawyer Friendly Cameos at best. Like having actual Badniks instead of those stupid Tickens.

To be fair, Sonic was added very late compared to the rest of the cast. And like I said, a stage should have a mix between the OG enemies and the stage's baddie, with more minion mixing added as the game progresses. And there'd be a ton more Bosses at the end of shorter stages.

I would move for the OG enemies to be relatively rare and only show up at pivotal points in the story. They're the ones facilitating the collision of worlds, but they're leaving the fighting and dying to the octoroks, goombas, space pirates, snitchbugs, lovable slapstick genome soldiers etc.

It's just a little annoying to me because all of these recent crossover games are bringing huge, diverse and interesting casts together and then saying, "Well! Look at all these wacky people! I do wonder how they would get along! However, you defeat enemies in this game by maneuvering and stringing attacks together rather than selecting options from a menu, so we can't make anything more than a basic story." It would be possible to make really interesting games by letting these worlds rub together, but it falls to fanfiction writers to build anything more than a thin pretext to have the characters in the same room punching each other.

I'll admit that the Subspace Emissary was pretty cool, and had a lot of great moments. But I hope that if they consider the SSE experiment to be a success, they try to do more with their premise than having the Smashers wandering around a generic landscape fighting a grab bag of random monsters.

(Aside: I have high hopes for the new CapcomXSegaXNamco game, too.)

I hope character appearances are more balanced, too. Kirby squad stole the spotlight everywhere, Ice Climbers only appeared for one level, Mr. Game & Watch, while relevant to the backstory, didn't even appear as a main playable character in any level...

Lucas and Diddy Kong also got a somewhat disproportionately high screentime compared to some of the others.

Yeah, I didn't think that even needed to be pointed out.

I do hope everyone appears during the main story, at least. If one or two only become recruitable after the game that isn't so bad.

[up] I approve of that, if only to get Mario out of the position of the fan's unfavouraite.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

I just thought of a new way to do Event Matches.

You know how Brawl had two sets of Events, one just for 1 player and one just for 2 player co-op? Well, what if all Events were able to be played with all 4 players? After entering Event Match, you would select an Event to play, select how many people will go at the Event, then select the difficulty.

Since 4 players would obviously wreck the Events, they would be upgraded in relation to the number of players. As in example, an Event on Easy with 1 player would generally be easier than an Event on Easy with 4 players. Also, if it's a question of how 4 player would work, Multi Man shows us that they can definitely have more than 4 characters at the same fight.

Is this a good idea?

I think it would be neat if they allowed for online (Wii U) / wi-fi (3DS) free-for-all matches with more than 4 players at once.

It'd be utterly insane for sure, but damn, wouldn't it be fun?

Personally, I don't think so. Most of the events are "canon" of sorts. That is, they work from a story perspective. Fox and Falco fighting Wolf. Link vs. Dark Link. Pit helping Link and Zelda against Ganondorf. Nintendo, Sega, and Konami duking it out. Making them four-player would mean sacrificing specificity for more players.

If anything, they could have a short list of specific 3-and-4 player events >_>

Maybe not an Event Match set, but I could see 4-Player Multi Man Melee/Brawl/Clash/Rumble/Whatever, or even Boss Rush or All-Star modes.
