hopelessly optimistic
They also changed how jumping works and I never really got used to it.

It felt wrong at first, but I actually ended up preferring the new method. In P1, when you charged a jump before actually jumping, but then found in mid-air that you'd misjudged the distance or something, you were stuck (ignore gliding and dashing for the sake of argument). In P2, you can cut your jump short if you need to once you're in the air, simply by letting go of the button.
I love it when a plan comes together, Clarice.

On the quality of P2: I had lots of fun with P1, so did I with P2.

Storywise I was dissapointed by Mercer. That's pretty much it.
He left the hamlet a madboy, and returned a madman.

Everything in Prototype 2 was just easier. The standard attack for the Whipfist was the special attack from Prototype 1.

And the Hammerfist used the ground spikes that used to be a limit break.
Let us not dwell on that which we cannot change.

I bought this game used for Xbox, and now I'm trying to figure out if it's broken. If I don't push the control stick straight forward the guy starts moving to the right.

Don't think it could be your controller? I don't know about other systems, but when I hold the control stick in one direction on other controllers when the game starts up that becomes the "neutral" position and I have to reset it to put it back in the right place.

[Foams at the mouth] Why is there no Collosal Mayhem/Excessive Force DLC for the PC version yet! I wanna zap fools with Medusa's Wrath, spin them right round me (right round me, right round) and bump into them as one of the Armoured forms.

Any of the Force Multipliers cancel out your saves somehow...and the alternate skins are all mostly just aesthetic. Except for the zombie one(s) where Heller just moans incoherently.

And at least YOU have the Perpetual Testing Initiative for Portal 2! There hasn't been any word on that for Xbox...

...and I thought the whipfist was good in the first game. Using it against Evolved (in a New Game+), and I don't even need timing. I can just mash M1 and keep them at bay nigh-indefinitely while whittling them down. Of course, that's boring, so it's back to stringing up everything I see with tendrils.

I finally finished this. I didn't hear about how Radical was fired. That's a shame, I thought they had improved a lot in this game. And now we'll never hear why Mercer went crazy.

At first I didn't like Heller, but he grew on me.

So... Prototype 1 and Prototype 2 are coming out this coming week, remastered for Xbox One and PS4. Fortunately, I never got either game so I may pick it up this time around.

ZOMG TEH REI!!!!
For me, Prototype 2 really soured me on the series, mainly because of the fact that they turned Mercer from a villain turned anti-hero who was slowly learning his humanity and the like, into a generic villain all in a desperate move to make the player accept Heller as the new protagonist. Heller is also not a very likable protagonist either, and his development is nowhere near as interesting.

Not to mention that while it was explained in the comic as to why Mercer turned bad, that still doesn't make it okay. Plus, if you need supplementary materiel in order to explain your story for it to make sense, then you are failing as a writer.

I am become death, Destroyer of worlds
Not really.

It depends on how good the main story is already.

I don't fight for good, and I don't fight for evil, I JUST FIGHT!

I can see why people are still pissed about Mercer's Face–Heel Turn to be brutally honestly even if there was a given reason for it. Mercer had a rather interesting characterization when he was the protagonist near the end of the first game. Heller doesn't really, he comes off as a really forgettable protagonist more so then anything else.

I also think that they could of been a lot more creative with there main antagonist this time around.
Brony? Moi? surely you jest!
Personally, I think it was the original mercer that took control. The blacklight infected heller as a last ditch Fighting from the Inside moment
He who fights bronies should see to itthat he himself does not become a brony. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, Pinkie Pie gazes Also
[up]That was what pretty much happened from what I saw yes. By the end of the original Prototype Blacklight did not want to become like the original Mercer despite taking his body. The sad part comes in that when he went on his journey it ended up making him even more bitter to the point he became exactly what he hated and didn't want to be aka the original Mercer.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Blacklight intentionally infected James to get the original Mercer killed....

The fact that the reason for Mercer's Face–Heel Turn was given in a comic, and not in the game, so most people who played the game (Or saw the advertisement who heavily pushed Mercer as the villain) had no way to know WTF happened probably didn't help.

I gotta say, I gotta give the intro of Prototype 2 a giant thumb up. We get Heller, who saw Mercer take out his APC with just throwing a car, crawl out of said wreckage, and chase Mercer down with only a knife. And he knows Blackwatch dares not face Mercer without enough firepower to take out god NAD has personally seen Mercer one-handed throw a knife. But Heller doesn't care. He's got a revenge boner and a bowie knife. Then Mercer tosses him into a wall by just flexing his back. Does that stop Heller? Hell no. Mercer Punches his so hard there's a fucking shockwave. Does that make Heller reconsider his knife-based plan? He sees Mercer tackle a helicopter. Does that make him reconsider? Hell no. Heller has the most plentiful, large balls I have ever seen. His voice is so deep coz it's distorted by the gravity field of his own balls.

Yeah, I might hate Mercer's Face–Heel Turn, but that intro made me think "Well, shit, if I was in his position I'd want this guy on my side too." Bad luck that Heller turned out to be one of the Evolved immune to the mind-control aspect.
Cool, it comes with BOTH games.
