Oh, come now. We're counting stage numbers now?
Only when it gives me a chance to pad Wriggle's resume.

Also, by your logic, Wriggle is as powerful as Yuyuko.

Heart of StoneWriggle's clearly the Earthbound Star. Can't believe you missed that.
My bad. That's a great title. Almost as good as The Freshmaker.
Wriggle may not be the Strongest, but she's certainly a contender for the Titleiest.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersWriggle is the second-most powerful goddess of the Touhou pantseon. And also the next character we're discussing. Otanoshimini!
Gah! I missed the vote....
I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE...RIGHT AFTER I CHANGE TO AN APPROPRIATE IMAGE FOR THE UPCOMING CONVERSATION!
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Once again, Koakuma has victory snatched from her grasp at the very last second, this time by a firefly who is now reclining in the most malevolent manner possible. In midair.
Heart of StoneUpside down in midair, don't you mean?
No, right way up. And she's smirking.
Malign the Great Nightbug and she will devour your children, y'know.
Heart of StoneShe'll kick you in the face.
Wriggle's cape is amazing. The only cape that matches its capeyness is Yumemi's, because she specifically puts it on to kick your ass.

Heart of StoneOr give you malaria.
They exiled the Earth Spiders but forgot that the number one killer, even more than tigers and sharks and tiger sharks and tiger sharks made out of lightning, has always been the humble yet rancorous mosquito.
Just one of the vassals in the Queendom of Nightbug.
Cape agreement.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHm... Wriggle will be a tough. Expect a very stretched metaphor, as well as suspension of disbelief regarding said metaphor.

Clarste, what happened to your Crouching Aya, Hidden Aya? I'd just gotten used to it.
Heart of StoneIt was a temporary counteragent to repel the leftover avatars from Cirno day, and stuck around because we happened to discuss Aya next. It was never meant to be permanent.
We leave this page in honor of Clayarste may the feelings of goodwill and Tenguism never be forgotten.

Theme:
Stirring an Autumn Moon ~ Mooned Insect*
Stage: Where the Fireflies Fly
Are the fireflies brighter than usual, or is it just your imagination? Tonight will be a long night.
bgm: Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes*
Spellcard Motif: Insects | Earthbound astronomy | The night
Notable spellcards: IN, StB
Firefly Sign "Meteor on Earth", Lamp Sign "Firefly Phenomenon", Wriggle Sign "Little Bug", Wriggle Sign "Nightbug Storm", Hidden Bug "Hermit of an Endless Night", "Unseasonal Butterfly Storm", Firefly Sign "Fixed Star on Earth", Butterfly Sign "Butterfly Storm", "Wriggle Kick"*
Write-up:
Sometimes, on a particularly clear night, one might see an ocean of stars in the depths of darkness. Stars that dance brightly to a nocturnal beat. These stars are not the light of a distant sun, but the insect queen of Gensokyo and her loyal followers.
Fireflies are among the rare types of insects that humans will tolerate for their aesthetic appeal. It is thanks to this mystifying light that a firefly could live long enough to grow beyond its ephemeral existence and become a youkai. And thus, she rose to be queen of the insects.
And yet, the insect kingdom has long passed its prime, that time when their night invisible presence would instill fear in a grown man's heart. In today's world, a bug is little more than a nuisance, to be killed for the crime of existing, with a rolled-up newspaper, a magnifying glass, or outright chemical warfare.
In spite of all this, Wriggle remains proud! In spite of being treated as a child, being laughed at for her lacking long-term memory, and constantly being mistaken for male, Wriggle Nightbug remains proud! For she will lead her people into a glorious tomorrow! Or at least avoid dying for as long as she can.

To start us off, a matter of utmost importance!
This◊ is Wriggle's current picture on our character sheet. It's far, far from being the most horrible picture someone decided to put up there, but it doesn't strike me as fitting. So, should I replace it with the one in the profile?
Because I haven't done a Stage 1 stage theme list, you may be unaware of how much I love Illusionary Night - Ghostly Eyes. Well I love it. I really do.
As for her boss theme, ehhhh... It suffers the same fate of many stage 1 bosses (Letty, Minoriko, Yuyuko) of not being as awesome as the stage theme* .
Wriggle: Of note is BAiJR, where she sets up some kind of insect eugenics program to breed insecticide resistant bugs.
Remember, when all else dies, there will still be insects. Wriggle will outlast us all except Mokou and Kaguya.

Heart of StoneYeah, change it.
Anyway Wriggle. She wears the pants. Wriggle is an interesting character, in terms of maturity, in that I always saw her as more mature than, say, Cirno, Dai, Rumia, and the other members of Team Cirnosquad 9: The Next Cirnoventure, but a bit less mature than everyone else. Also, I always saw her as a teenager. More so than the actual teenagers somehow. She is very mischievous. She has to be. It goes with the "midair slouch of style" so well.
And she can command the worst of bugs. I wouldn't piss her off.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Star on Earth
Yukari claims the moon is the mother of all youkai. That which illuminated the first night and created the first shadows. She is wrong. Alongside the moon, there have always been the stars. Alongside the shadows, there has always been the many.
Before there was magic, before there were youkai, there were simply shadows. Shadows, and something else. Something just as unknown, just as unknowable. Humanity has always been afraid of the dark, but it's never been our only fear. Just as we fear the illusory shadows, we fear what lurks within them. What cannot be defeated by strength alone, what is waiting around every corner, what like a hydra comes back twice as strong after every defeat. What carries with it famine and plague, poison and death. Truly an original fear, an original youkai.
Insects, bugs, vermin. They go by many names, and have many forms, but what they have in common is weakness. But how can something so weak evoke such a primal reaction from humanity? Through numbers of course. What they lack in strength they make up for in quantity. Insects are as the stars, innumerable and everywhere. Perhaps it is easy to be distracted by the light of the moon, but ultimately the stars united can rival her in splendor.
Among these stars is a particularly brilliant one that's fallen to Earth. She can be seen at night trying vainly to reclaim her position in heaven, but it's an empty attempt, devoid of meaning. She calls herself Queen of the Bugs, and so it is. In ages past, the Queen of the Stars would have been a fearsome sight indeed, but those ages have past. Now she is a harmless pest, left unscathed by virtue of her inoffensiveness. She holds no memories of the past, believing them to be useless, and therefore has no regrets for the future. For there is nothing to regret. All she knows is an idle urge to join the stars at night.

Stop, Wriggle Time!
Overview
Wriggles power is control over insects. See ZUN quote above to realize just how fearful Queen Nightbug truly is.
Wriggle was a considered character for GQ, but like Mokou and Kaguya, she didn't make the final cut.
Because Wriggle spawns at the top of the screen many less experienced, or distracted, many players experienced the "Wriggle Kick."
Wriggle is a common member of Team 9.
Wriggle has pants. We exist in a fandom where this is a thing, and I have noted it.
Music
Meh. It's meh.
Overview
Wriggle is awesome, but I don't know why she's awesome. She doesn't make a single boast, and her spawn point is generally more threatening then her spells. I think it's the cape. It's probably the cape. It has to be the cape. Eh, my opinion on Wriggle, her dialogue in IN sounds like she's easily intimidated, so it's hard to give her a combat awesome factor, but maybe she's just likable. It's hard to dislike her, she's a firefly, the best of the insects. The Queen of the Insects. I, for one, bow done to our new insect overlords.

I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments. Its kind of weird that Princess Wriggle is a common fanon thing when Wriggle is already the Queen of Bugs. Seems like a step down just so she can wear a dress. Queen Wriggle would have been better.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Unshiki'd Chen is a stage 2 boss since she wasn't following Ran's orders when she attacked you. Wriggle "The Rock" Nightbug is just a stage one boss. Even Tokiko got some surprise hits on Reimu and got some clothing damage in.
Good point on the hell ravens. And probably also the various rabbit youkai in IN and the crows in MOF. So Wriggle can be the Probably Weakest Animal Youkai Thats Also a Boss.
