Yeah, I think they'll skip it too. Just like the cut Barristan posing as Whitebeard in Essos. Some things just can't work on television.

Season 5 casting news video. We have Doran, Trystane, (a new) Myrcella, Tyene, Obara, Nym, Aero, and High Sparrow

No news of Arianne. And I am seeing a bit of an uproar of missing Arianne and the Dorne casting.....

Ah, good old Game of Thrones never failing to elicit an uproar.

Oh my god Doctor Bashir fuck yes!

Alexander Siddig is an incredibly good actor. I'm really looking forward to season 5.

I've never heard of Oparei, but it's good that they finally cast a black actor in a non-evil or morally ambiguous role.

Is anyone in the series not morally ambiguous by some measure?

I see your point (although I though I thought the show's take on Xaro and Saan were/are great characters).

I see Hotah as like a Samurai (which I guess makes him like Ghost Dog in the show), always polite and good with kids, but who also someone who enjoys fighting and takes an intellectual pleasure in killing enemies.

Edit- Cool casting overall although RIP Arianne, we hardly knew ye. I'm willing to bet though that other castings (i.e. Greyjoys, Griffs, and Manderlys) are to come.

And where the are the Greyjoys? >:(

It occurs to me that I forgot Missandei and Greyworm in my previous post. My bad.

Apparently Tyrene is Ellaria's daughter in the show. Judging by the video, her weapon of choice has gone from poison to daggers. The actress looks really young too. I wonder if she's become a Composite Character with Elia Sand.

Still really looking forward to see Siddig as Doran.

@Hodor That's unlikely. They've said that their cast won't get bigger than season 3's so this is close to nearly most of it.

So it seems like Young Griff's plot is getting axed especially with no Arianne or Quentyn.

Perhaps Myrcella will take Aegon's place in the plot.

Ran: "These are not going to be all the named roles cast this season, but they are most of the significant ones, at least. Possibly some roles scheduled for filming later this year—filming has commenced, it should be noted—may well be revealed later, but for the most part the above are going to be the chief new additions for this season."

So I'm guessing the Griffs have been cut for sure and that we'll maybe get a few Northern lords, Euron and Victarion Greyjoy.

Yeah Arianne isn't significant at all. :(

Man, I get such bile fascination from Game of Throne and D&D.

[up]x6: Ned was the closest thing to pure good and he's dead. Several characters like the Mountain and Joffrey had no redeeming virtues anyone could detect...and they're dead. Moral ambiguity seems to be a survival trait in this world.

[up][up]Honestly, I think that D&D are probably in a better position to determine who's important and who's not than any of us are. They've been told about how the next couple of books are supposed to go. If she were important, she'd have been cast.

Arianne's Book 4 plot amounted to nothing. And her Winds of Winter story-line seems to be tied to Aegon, who also seems likely to have been cut. Maybe she's just not all that important in the long term.

Quentyn also seems to have been cut. My guess is that Trystane is going to be getting his role of Freeing-a-Dragon-and-Dying-Horribly. After all, Trystane has already been name-dropped, so he can't be cut. I bet that Doran's children just aren't that important and that D&D are just giving their important roles over to the kid that's already been named.

[up][up] Arianne and YG are definitely important characters. They're going to be at the head of another Dance with Dragons.

This is just a huge deviation from the source material.

They're literally cutting out an entire war here.

And do you really think that Maggy the Frog is actually more important than Arianne Martell? : /

@RS Lee Also Trystane wasn't name-dropped and he was introduced as the youngest son of House Martell. Guess what? He's now the oldest son and heir.

My bad. I thought that Trystane was named in the scene where Tyrion leaked his plans to Pycelle. But you're right. I rewatched it and he was just called the youngest son. I guess that we have ourselves a minor retcon.

No, Maggy is not more important than Arriane. Cersei sure as hell is though and Maggy's prophecy is a big motivator for her. It's not like Maggy is going to be that big of a role though. She has one scene. It's not all that ridiculous to keep her around while dropping an unimportant subplot.

But, let's face it. We don't know how important Griff's invasion is going to be in the grand scheme of things. D&D do, though.

I mean I don't know what you mean by in the grand scheme of things.

Could we still end up at the same place? Yes.

But we could still end up in the same ending if say Robb Stark and Cat's storyline got excised completely too. But I wouldn't say that Robb and Cat didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Anyways GRRM's already said that we shouldn't be surprised if the show and books have different endings.

My prediction RE casting for what it's worth:

I think we are bound to get at least one Greyjoy uncle- not only because of them being mentioned, but also because there was a statement (I forget if from D&D or Cogman) on Yara's season 4 plot and how her decision will negatively impact her attempts to establish herself as a leader- which seems to imply both that Balon is (obviously) a goner and that someone is going to challenge her for the Seastone Chair.

I think Young Griff will appear, and it will be similar to Ramsay in the sense that there will be a vague casting description and the character will initially seem less important until The Reveal. A Second Dance seems inevitable in the books and I just can't something like that being eliminated.

I'm less confident that Connington will appear- I agree with this comment by a Winter Is Coming poster to the effect that while Young Griff is often accused of being a Shocking Swerve, he isn't, and is actually well foreshadowed. However, (as the commentator noted) Connington kind of comes out of nowhere in the story- before he appears, there's two vague mentions of one of Aerys' many Hands being a drunk, and I think he's named in one of them if that. And it's telling I think that the show hasn't mentioned him up to this point.

Edit- Although, the Golden Company has been mentioned, so maybe his chances of appearing (along with his "son") are better than I thought.

Arrianne is sort of tied to Young Griff and I hate to lose the character, but yeah, it seems likely she's cut. I do think the Dornish plot in terms of Aegon can still sort of work- my guess is that Doran wanted to betroth Trystane to Dany (substituting for Arrianne and Viserys), and then in the next season, Trystane will play Quentyn's role of going off to Dany.

I also have a suspicion that the show might change Dornish succession rules such that bastards can inherit- which would explain the presence of the Sand Snakes and absence of Arrianne.

No Arianne = less wasted time. Excellent.

Doran and the High Sparrow look spot on, but Doran's casting bothers me. He looks a bit too old (though they may just be going with an age lift) and he's....he could stand to be darker-skinned. He looks a bit too pale for Doran's son.

[up] I was more shocked to see pale Sand Snakes than I was with Doran's cast. I would have liked to see another of the Sand Snakes having mixed ancestry (arabian, or african) - but Tyene looks gorgeous, so I will not complain too much. I didn't picture Obara as that feminine though, but she may get the same treat than Gwen Christie.

Jonathan Pryce as High Sparrow & Alexander Siddig as Doran? Sign me up as hooked! 8D

Trystane looks like someone out of a boy band.

Tyene has a weird mix of tomboy-ness and femininity.

Are we 100% certain that Arianne has been cut? Her casting call might haven't be filled in yet.

Curious to know if there are any juice controversies over the new casting.

[up][up] Yes, I would make a better Trystane than that guy. >: C

He looks like Jon Snow's younger brother which means he should totally be Satin instead.

[up] Well the EW usually releases the one big character.

Last year it was Oberyn, the year before it was ....Beric maybe and the year before that it was Mel and Stannis.

[up] Pics or GTFO tongue

EDIT: Don't lose all hope. The next season is going to introduce a lot of new characters. Arianne might be included in the next casting along with Vic, Euron e.t.c.

Trystane should have been Jon Snow. Kit Harrington should have been Satin.
