Game of Thrones:

The entire wildfire scene was done magnificently. Incredibly impressed by how well it looked. Adored everything else in the episode too. Drunk Cersei is, and will always be, my absolute favourite.

Gasped a couple of times at the gore, especially the guy whose head pretty much EXPLODED after the rock was dropped on him.

One thing I'm glad they toned down was the San San stuff. The entire ship creeps me out so I'm glad it wasn't as faithful to the book as the rest of the episode was. Interestingly, that's also the only complaint that I've seen from people - that the San San scene wasn't faithful enough. Ah well.

What I missed was the chain boom. Would have loved to see Davos' Oh Crap face at being trapped in the bay just before Bronn lighted the wildfire.

Westeros only deserves arseholes because it's already chock full of them. Westeros deserves a fucking break.

If Westeros wants a break from Assholes, then stop letting the Assholes kill people who aren't assholes.

Westeros needs to get off it's lazy ass, then it will catch a break.

[up]x4Westeros needs an enema.

At least I didn't make any new friendships.
I might just skip over all of season two and watch this episode.

Well, as for the SanSan stuff - I don't think it's as clear in the show as it is in the books why she didn't go with him. In the books, to my recollection, it's part that he almost raped her (yes, it looked like he was going to kill her in the show, but the showdown was a lot more amiable toward the end) and part her other plan to escape the city through Dontos, neither of which is the case in the show. That has less to do with this one glorious episode, though, as it does to do with suffering the effects of a lack of Sansa this season. Am I misinterpreting this?

It's like God spilled a person.
Lord of Castamere
They probably moved the stuff with Dontos to the next season. It's quite important to understand Littlefinger's plan so I doubt they scrapped the storyline, plus it makes sense that there was no time to introduce it this season.

Anyways the last episode was the most awesome TV series episode I have ever seen. I nearly cried for poor Stannis :(

Having The Rains of Castamere in the credits was so effective

Instead, I have learned a horrible truth of existence...some stories have no meaning.

Yeah, book three is getting two seasons, right? That seems like enough time for the Dontos stuff.
Lord of Castamere
Plus something important of the San San scene was how Sansa's memories of it are different, and this is something that can be done with written PO Vs but it's very hard to pull correctly in a TV series.

Blargh. Everyone's makin' me all jealous. So if it's fairly faithful to the book, would it be fine to just watch this episode? Haven't seen any other season two episode...

I don't "love it love it" (because I kind of wish Stannis had won although he kind of did deserve to get defeated by faux magic), but I love how the War Is Glorious image of Tywin and Loras entering on their white horses at just the right moment is such a complete crock- yeah, Loras did deserve his revenge, but it's like he and Tywin weren't involved in the worst of the fighting at all, and as the preview implies, they will receive all the credit. even worse is the fact that (as also somewhat implied in the preview), this whole ploy was Littlefinger's idea.

I'm not sure how I feel about The Rains of Castamere playing over the credits. They should have kept that for The Red Wedding, but I have to say it made quite an impact.

Well, Rains will be playing during The Red Wedding. And if it ends with Cat's throat slit then it's probably best for them to go all moment-of-silence-y for the credits.

I liked the use of the song- it's kind of interesting that we first hear it as a jaunty tune Tyrion whistles and as a Bawdy Song by Bronn and co, but I think the version of the end credits is probably less a Dark Reprise and more like the "true" version. I think it's cool that it was used now so that the audience along with the characters will go Oh Crap when it starts being played at Edmure's wedding.

Edit- Another thing, I liked all that was done in the episode to make it hard for the audience to know who to root for- or from a more cynical perspective, to make clear that both sides are bad.

Anyone notice that they finally gave Tyrion the chain of golden hands?

Pod was pretty awesome. My friend and I speculated that Tyrion would end up having a case of Beauty Is Never Tarnished.

The episode was pretty amazing and made up for the inconsistent quality of the season (awkward brothel scene notwithstanding). I was astonished at the amount of luck that Stannis had while he was fighting Lannister soldiers.

...and that's why Stannis is the obvious choice for R'HLLOR OF EVERYTHING FOREVER.

Stannis and Bronn are two of the biggest badasses in Westeros.
Team Tyrion
[up][up][up]I'm guessing that instead of having his nose cut off Tyrion will get a nifty scar. An Ambiguous Scar for an Ambiguously Evil character.
