And now we can add another Sci-Fi series to his repertoire, he started reviewing the modern Battlestar Galactica. But only the introducing miniseries, mind you.

Insurrection was bad, and boring, but Generations and V were worse. Insurrection was on par with Nemesis and shared the same problem. They were TV episodes (not very good ones) dragged out to feature length.
Though I will hand Insurrection the award for managing to create the least likable "victims" I have ever seen on the silver screen.

"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritNemesis, while being dumb as a sack of brick, and filled with plotholes so big you can drive a borg cube through them, has one redeeming value over Insurrection:
It TRIES to be entertaining. Insurrection is so boring, even the action scenes are boring. Nemesis at least has some cinematic space battles.
Not to mention...
Purple space bazooka.
THAT'S HOW BAD INSURRECTION IS!
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritThe main Ba'ku woman, Picard's love interest, may qualify as the most boring character and most lifeless performance I've ever seen in Trek. Even Chakotay looks like Brian Blessed compared to her. That scene where she slows down time with Picard? That's what watching her scenes feel like.
Nemesis, for it's many flaws, has probably some of the best Space Battles of any Trek movies (and I love the new Romulan Warbirds we see in Nemesis) and some pretty sweet action scenes (The fighter escape for example). They just feel out of place in a Trek film... Also the plot is dumb. Very very dumb.
I hated the Bak'u, selfish pricks.
"No, our ridiculous and unsustainable lifestyle is far more important than the billions of lives giving it up could save."
That's right, the Bak'u figure each of their lives is worth about 10,000,000 of everyone else's.
Our tragic figures to be saved from destruction, don't you wanna just... shoot them yourself?
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritYeah, I had kind of the same issue with the Na'vi but James Cameron was at least smart enough to keep the details of "unobtanium" vague to avoid painting his indigenous people as self-centered jerks.
So maybe Insurrection did do one thing right: it helped other directors learn from its mistake.
Bumping this for his well done review of The Two Towers. It never occurred to me that poor Aragorn never does get to finish a task by himself without either getting help or having to switch to some other quest. His take on Gollum was both hilarious and spot on as well.
"Gollum's isn't the story of treachery. Its a mentally ill homeless man who is treated like an animal until he finally gives up on anything but his loyalty to his addiction."
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...Yeah, I liked his take on Gollum. "Gollum is the Harry Kim of Middle Earth"
Star Trek Nemesis is up. Probably has the greatest evil Janeway bit EVER.
It's interesting to see Nemesis and Two Towers side by side there. In Nemesis he rips into the stupid plot, analyzes the movie in a bigger context and comes up with quite a few interesting observations. Two Towers is just retelling the plot.
Am I the only one who squee'd just a little when he brought up the Lot R card games? (yes, I played them too)
His take on ST reminds me of a joke my friends and I used to make about Star Wars. We used to say that the only way Star Wars worked as a plot (especially with the prequels) is that Obi-Wan Kenobi is a compulsive liar. In Star Trek, it all only works if Janeway is mad scientist evil.
Mass Effect 2 review is up.
Hey, a Foundation Shout-Out, nice.
when I got to part six it wouldn't load for me. up until then the review/recap was solid. Good jokes, and he went with a fail!shep starter.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?SF Debris' doing a review of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Ought to be interesting.
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...I trust him to do it as the man has shown himself to be able to put as much analysis and depth into reviews of a British sitcom as into serious science fiction.
After bearing several parts of the Mass Effect 2 review, I found myself too thoroughly bored to go any further. There is no review nor evaluation , it's a read through of the plot and there is barely any humour and the complete blind spot in addressing the areas where player choice makes a difference gets annoying.
I have to chalk it up to inexperience. He's not used to covering this much material, so a lot of analysis and humor goes by the wayside.
Kill all math nerdsHe went and added a post recap analysis that I thought was pretty good.
I quit watching the ME2 review after two parts. Not so much because it was below par relative to his usual output - though it was - but because I figured I'd like to play the game some day and didn't want to spoil myself too much. Of course, then I checked out the last part to see if he had some kind of ultimate conclusion about the story and spoiled myself the ending anyway. Jeez.
Ought to be interesting.
Whoa? Hmmmm, he says he's reviewing the first two episodes, but I wonder how much of the series he's actually watching. Context is everything there. And the season 2 premiere would be a billion times more relevant, considering the blatant reference to Q and all.

Fascinating... The first 2 episodes aren't the best...
Who requested that I wonder...
To Be Updated when I'm not LazyI am curious what "WTF Week" consists of.
And when/if he'll do my request for Darmok!
If so, I commend him/her for an excellent choice.
