You know, I've noticed several spots throughout the Endurance Run that Ryan and Patrick make some incredibly dumb decisions - not knowing about the Scouters (did you guys not see the pop-up menu after all the counterattacks?), forgetting that they have a flying time machine that can skip sections of 2300 AD, and, in today's part, not trying out other party members when trying to enter Castle Guardia until 20 minutes in.
Sometimes I wonder if they're just pretending to be dumb, or if they're just terrible at the game. Or maybe I know too much about Chrono Trigger; someone who never played it before could possibly get stuck like them...
Part 40. Once again, these guys display great ineptitude, and this time, I'm not sure you can even attribute it to Guide Dang It.
Okay, you have an enemy that counterattacks everything, and evades any attack you throw at it. The 5 flames around him absorb any magic attack, physical attacking the same one will display "Miss: Flame Counterattack", and the boss routinely uses Roulette Shuffle. Is it that hard to figure out at this point?
Sorry, I should've gone into more detail.
I linked to the Chrono Trigger Endurance Run Part 40, where they fight Son of Sun, a Puzzle Boss. I was saying that, even if you didn't know the trick going into the fight, I think there's enough hints given that you can figure out that you have to attack the correct flame to damage the center.
No, if you look at the videos, you'll see that they have an infuriating tendency to not read what's on screen ("Barrier Change/Only Water Damages" "Use lightning!"). For a while I even thought that they had that part of the screen obstructed but they eventually DO read it which makes it even dumber.
Any child can follow rules. True adulthood is knowing which ones to break and when.
In fairness to the Persona 4 stuff, they're also doing commentary along side it and talking to each other as well. As a viewer we just watch, so we probably see more then they do. Also:
I FUCKED UP A SHARK
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!
Also, a sizable chunk of the website treats Patrick Klepek as The Scrappy when it comes to doing Quick Looks and writing articles that are a little too heavily influenced by his political and social views. Anyone agree/disagree? I for one think he's an okay guy, though a bit annoying at times.
The only problem I have with Patrick is that he looks younger than me but really he is almost a decade older than me and for that I hate him.
I think the reason people don't like him is that he is super serious when it comes to reviewing and most of the other guys constantly crack jokes about things.
To be perfectly honest I haven't noticed much of a feminist slant from him, although the only news posts I could find were for the stupid Dead Island statue.
At least the users on Giant Bomb can state a reason for not liking him. Over on Youtube they seem to have picked up on people not liking him yet don't understand the reason, and then we end up with endless comments about how they hate Patrick.
