So Robo is getting her first <3> Blockbuster<s>! The super is a Proton Cannon-esque super cannon that uses 2 cylinders which is a LV. 1 normally...except holding a punch button has the move evolve into a LV. 3 with 6 cylinders when she has at least 3 bars...and then holding a punch while having all 5 bars evolves again into the 6 cylinders being upgraded into also having a Stargate-looking arch that also fires a laser.

Soooo, that "Hype Train" that evidently shows up when someone breaks out of a loop is a Fandom Nod or an Ascended Meme?

Also, Soviet announcer? Ok, didn't know people were asking for that, but ok.

The hype train only shows up on a successful burst bait. That is to say, your opponent tries to burst and it completely whiffs you.

And the Real Soviet Announcer pack was one of the stretch goals on the Indiegogo campaign, go look.

[up][up][up]I'd say it's a Fandom Nod. Hype Train isn't a game-specific meme, but this particular version was made by ZONE in a SFW Flash thing.

Also, the Real Soviet Announcer is one of the free voice packs that also got funded by the IGG. We're gonna get several others before the game's development is completely done.

Well, Beowulf finally has some of his lines implemented in the beta. If the wrestling influences weren't strong enough, he's got some shout outs here that'll make some fans here mark out. Among them:

Suddenly I understand the complaints of people who have said that Skullgirls is gradually turning from an interesting game with an absorbing and deep universe and a Black Comedy edge into Le Epic Maymay Trolololfest 201X.

Is there such a thing as Shout Out Overdosed?

On one hand, yeah, I totally get that complaint.

On the other, there aren't enough wrestling references in video games and I need more of those.

Reminds me a lot of World Of Warcraft in ways, especially after they starting throwing caution to the wind with Cataclysm.

Like it, the story and the gameplay are pretty separate - the story mode does its own thing and clearly has a lot of input from the original creator (but I have my own complaints about it, especially how poorly they explained the mythos surrounding the game with Eliza's - if you're not an SG lore nerd, a lot of her story mode will go over your head), while the gameplay and flavor is a lot of meme regurgitation and refinement of concepts from other games. Not knocking the quality, but that's the long and short of it.

Well, it is fan funded with fan voting tongue

Anyway, are you guys sure you don't going dangerously close to some odd variation of "Too popular, it sucks now"? O-o I mean, is there really anything wrong with references and memes in this case?...

^Also, in that case, why should they exposition everything so that everything is obvious? <_< Isn't point of mysterious stuff to keep things mysterious until the end?

No one's saying it's bad, just that it's pretty derivative and overly reliant on memes in a lot of places.

Yeah, but Eliza's story mode? .-. Isn't Beowolf's lines the pretty much only meme stuff? Well, besides funny announcers and robo character I guess?

Anyhoo, since we are all whining now, my own personal problem with Skullgirls is mainly that they did character voting at all when they have characters that are more plot important than others. I mean, yeah, voting for extra characters is nice, but it feels weird when you realize that Eliza is essentially idea for sequel's main villain :P Thats... Yeah, I have no clue why they included characters like Aeon and stuff in the poll when some of them are obviously not meant to be in story yet due to how important they are, why did they feel need to include every named character idea except Trinity's Mother in the poll? They should have cut away plot important characters whose appearance this early would come across as weird...

And thats not the only thing, its weird since due to vote, unimportant side characters and future villains have now higher priority than characters who are apparently needed for game's true ending... That makes me feel like this game won't ever be truly "finished"...
