Fine, I'll start.

Since we're growing into a tight little community here, and it's always nice to be able to associate a face with the people you meet often, and all the paranoid ones don't disclose their real location anyway, how about a thread to post photos of ourselves in?

I don't get my photo taken often, so the most recent (and halfway decent) ones are almost a year old.

This one was taken on a trip I went to with some other people from the linguistics course at my university. We got the task to create a story or play within half an hour that uses terms we didn't learn yet in creative ways. You see me performing as a charming detective. Don't let yourself be fooled. You can't see how my knees were shaking.

The next one was taken on the same trip during a lesson about... linguistic-y stuff. Yeah. I quit that course soon.

So!

Only picture of me I have on this computer is four years old. It contains grievous inaccuracies about my appearance. For instance, I had a lot more hair back then. Friend of mine took a more recent snapshot with her iPhone, I should just pester her to give it to me.

I have a few photos from this year, it's just sort of hard to find one that doesn't have one of my friends or family members in it (since I don't really have their permission to post their photos on the internet). Anyway, here goes (the pictures are in chronological order, by the way):

This one and this one were taken at my friend's birthday party in Disneyland.

This one was taken just before my prom. I actually got my hair and makeup done!

This one is from the honors and awards ceremony at my school. I got a four thousand dollar scholarship that I don't remember applying for...

This one was taken at my family's graduation after party. It rained at my graduation, so the ceremony had to be moved to the gym and there was only room for two guests per person, so I reenacted some of the more important moments for my family afterward. This is me throwing my hat. Less than a second later, the hat bounced off the ceiling and hit the floor. It's a bit of a goofy picture, but I like it a lot.

On a somewhat related note, the hand wave that I'm doing in three of the pictures shows up in a lot of the pictures of me, for some reason, I'm not sure why.

This feels a little weird, but I'll play. From this afternoon ...a ginger

I have few good photos of me...

Ok, none, really, I'm just bad with cameras, but I guess everyone feels like that every now and then.

Jesus, I'm a babyface. Also, I make weird faces. But it's a pretty accurate photo.

This is a fairly recent picture of me. I'm essentially the same save for the fact that now I have pink hair, after losing a bet.

Here is another pic of me with my NiceHat. My friends tell me that my expression is borderline NightmareFuel.

I have one of those hats, too, but in black.

That means you're the good one and I'm the evil one.

Ruthie, you look cuddly!

Fast Eddie, I know it's a bit weird, but... uhm... ... I've got nothing. ... also, you look symmetrical and emotionless. You are now filed in my brain as a cyborg. Awesome!

Jethro, you look nothing like what I expected. Which is probably a good thing given that I had you filed under "hippy" and the funky guy in your avatar. XD

Alkthash, I saved that photo in my references folder under the name "Technically a Smile". It shall serve me well.

Also, I hope nobody feels offended by my comments?

I should probably have said that first.

Hard Gay meets Jerry Garcia? My brain just broke.

Here's me in all my manly glory.

Well...ok, so I may have exaggerated a teensy bit there. This is the only decent photo I have of myself, although it was taken last year so now I currently have much longer and less awesome hair.

I quite like this one. By the way, those swords are real.

This one was taken about twenty minutes ago.

Some Guy
You know, just for the sake of unsolicited information, I don't like photos. They always seem like expressions of vanity to me. And when people take them they steal your soul, and I like my soul where it is right now.

Honestly, the only pictures of me that are just of me are several years old. It makes thing a pain in the neck when potential employers want to know what I look like, and "wait and see" is never an acceptable answer.
See you in the discussion pages.

This is me from last February or thereabouts.

This is me from about a year ago. This one was taken one haircut before that one.

This is me back in October 2006. I was dressed for a Western-themed dance.
I don't have a recent picture, but I look vaguely like Wil Farrell, the comedian.

I don't have a picture, but I look like a younger, out-of-shape Solid Snake. AKA The Sexiest Man Alive.

Too bad being out of shape sort of ruins that. I need to get out more, do some exercising.

My then-girlfriend told me once that I looked like Dominic Monaghan (aka Merry from the Lord Of The Rings films) just with shorter hair. That was about five years ago.

When I had long hair, people used to tell me I looked like Antonio Banderas.
Fast Eddie, you look exactly like a real-life friend of mine. It's freaking me out.

I tend to dodge cameras, so there hasn't been a good picture taken of me in approximately five years. Sorry.

Same here- Meta4 looks like an older version of someone I know. Well, in the picture where he has a buzz cut.

Anyways, here and here. I'm the one farthest to the right. The rest are friends of my unfortunatly dead half-brother. We have a reunion about every year or so in August.

By the way, how old do you think I am, guessing by those pictues?

Also, those are from two years ago.

One more thing- here's a picture of my cat being silly from that same reunion. Yes, we have a croquet set. Yes, it is fun. Yes, the cats do get in the way.

Edit: I do have pictures of that guy that looks like Meta4, but they're old. Really old. [[http://russbutton.com/family/photos/joel_bday_2002/pic00032.jpgThis was the best one I could find.

Edit2: We have whole collections of photos at my dad's website, but there's a lot of them and I doubt you want to see them anyways. ] they are.

Aha, my rival has appeared! Some day soon, you and I will have a glorious (not to mention ruggedly handsome) duel to the death.

Only the loser won't actually die, because we wouldn't want to deprive the world of either of us. So we'll have a nice death scene, and then the loser will go sleep for a little while and come back A-OK in a later episode.

Thanks to this thread, I have now come to a wonderful conclusion: NerdsAreSexy. Especially Fawriel.

Sadly, I don't have an up-to-date picture of myself. The most recent was taken in 2005 and suggests that my hair is shorter than it really is. Blargh, I need an updated one.

@Lucy Wanabe: I agree! It's a wonderful thing to realize, isn't it? I bet all those "ugly nerd" stereotypes are all just based on a silly idea that correlates "social competence" with "sex appeal". Though your choice in clothes does make a difference. But I find that, in many cases, intelligent people are also good-looking.

PS: I have this really annoying habit of highlighting paragraphs I'm reading.

Around my neck of the woods nature has apparently become very, very lazy indeed, to the point that 'ugly' almost always equals 'stupid'. It's very handy, really, and saves time having to get to know people that you'd rather not know.
Be professional. Be polite. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Absolutely! I'm always telling people that just because you're a nerd doesn't mean you can't be attractive. Heck, most of the nerds I run into are pretty easy on the eyes, and it makes me wonder where people are getting that stereotype from (though I have a sneaky suspicion it's because they're not doing their research).

You know, I put that there both hoping someone would see it and comment and hoping it would fly past the radar.
