So where is your user picture from? Care to share what pics you use on other forums? (I know we used to have a thread about this, but it seems it was lost in The Great Crash.)

My current avatar, and all my previous avatars, are from Gunnerkrigg Court. So it's probably safe to assume that all my future avatars will be from there as well.

I didn't write any of that.

My avatar, and all before and after it, is derived from the works of Yoshitaka Amano. Many may know him as the original character artist for the Final Fantasy series, but he has also done a great deal of other work. Besides his unlicensed drawings, he was the creator of Vampire Hunter D and has worked with Neil Gaiman to create a Japanese-myth inspired tale called Sandman: The Dream Hunters.

Accept no substitutes.

Mine is my personal logo; it started as a piece of a texture map I created that looked interesting, was simplified to fit the Mario Kart DS emblem size, and eventually gained eyes. Most people just dismiss it as a mutated yin-yang, for some reason.

Mine is that mad scientist from the intro to the "Weasel Queen" filler arc in Girl Genius. I was really, really upset that I couldn't fit in her T-shirt—it said "Fools, I will destroy you all! Ask me how", and practically made the panel. It was even too long to stick under my name. Sigh.

I've been meaning to change it to Othar, because after failing to get the funny part in, I'm afraid having a female character in my avatar might make people think I'm a girl. Also, Othar's got some really funny expressions in some panels if you look hard enough.

Mine is Foghorn Leghorn. A woman on the Giant in the Playground forums made it for me.

Mine's a picture of my bird, Ava (she's a ringneck dove). I tend to use this just about anywhere that an avatar is called for.

I made mine myself. The colors which go around the ball represent the four classical/japanese elements, plus light and dark.

But luckily, your username is brickman, so it's easier to tell you're a guy than Meta4.

I don't have a favorite show, movie, book, comic or song.

But I do have a favorite electronic circuit. I compressed the schematic into a 100px image so I could have a okay avatar. Can anyone tell what it does?

It has a timer chip, and an LED, and that's about all I know about electronics. A blinking light?

Yep. A 555 IC set up as an astable multivibrator driving a LED.

Back to the avatar explanations.

I'm tempted to start asking Adam all sorts of inane questions just so I can get an idea of how a person ticks who has a favourite circuit. It sounds like a characteristic you'd give to a flat mad scientist character, you know? And that's awesome.

Moving on, my avatar is... Fawriel. He's a green-furred-blue-haired weasel anthro who is either just a representation of me or the protagonist of a story that I have been planning for several years now and has gone into an indefinite hiatus while I'm trying to publish a different webcomic project for the sake of experience and awesomeness so I can learn how to structure a story, come up with plots instead of just single scenes, balance drama and happy stuff and draw well and learn how to flesh out characters and making them awesome without going into Mary Sue territory. ... *takes a deep breath* Both forms have a hypothetical SSBB moveset. The webcomic will be started when this semester is finished and I take a break for a year, at which point I'll probably start replacing my avatars and signatures everywhere with characters from there for the sake of advertisement.

He? That's a guy? Is your sig at least supposed to be a girl?

Also, you are the only one who's avatar (and sig) really and truly does make me think you're a girl. Are you?

Fawriel's avatar appears to have a beard, though...

I don't have an avatar because I'm lazy and I can't work out how to get an image file size small enough without ruining the image itself.

Uh... i mean, yeah, I usually use the Marx from the Communist Party wallpaper (though, I only go to a few places that use avatars). I chose the HG On His Computer, because, well, i had saved that pic somewhere, and wanted to throws something new in.

My avatar is a grainy trimmed screenshot of my main City Of Heroes character, Spectreblade. I have a better one, but I can't seem to get it down to this site's required file size without making it unrecognizable.

I'm trying to take this as a compliment, but it's not working.

... avatar and sig are both the same character, both male (except one is mildly bishonen and the other is chibi), and so am I. Male, not chibi. Though I can be a bit of a bishonen if I try hard enough. It gets me hugs at manga conventions.

Says the guy who's had girls in his avatar since day one.

Alright, I'll grant you that I only ever just glanced at the avatar, but you cannot be telling me that that is a guy in your sig. I do think "he" is extremely cute though.

edit: Anyways, you shouldn't be offended. I'm legendary on this other forum I visit regularly for being so bad at remembering/telling people's genders, most notably the fact that I'm pretty sure I've called one of the mods (who is a girl) "he" at least two times for every month that I've been on the forum, despite every thread I do so in being derailed for at least half a page with people chastising me, and that for a while her avatar had the words "Rule #1: There are no girls on the internet" scrawled across it.

That's only because it just shows the upper half of his body and you can't see his massive BALLS.

...

Okay, overdoing it. Anyway! Back on topic, right!

EDIT: I'm not offended, don't worry. It was just... kind of awkwardish.

Well, the hairline and glasses, not to mention the goattee tipped me off pretty fast.

But I'm also pretty bad with genders online, I mean, at one forum, I make those mistakes all the time, despite everyone writing by their real names...

Hang on... so you're saying that Fawriel's sig... is a guy? Come on; I knew it was chibi, but...

Suggestion to Fawriel: Put a goatee on that chibi.

To another point, Meta's the only person I've gotten confused about gender on this forum. At least of the people I see around here most often.

And does "there are no girls on the internet" apply to Janitor? =P
