Sticky plz.

Anyway, yeah, some where complaining about the new member -introduction threads, which do clutter the forum a bit. So, new people, post introductions here, and consider yourself welcomed. Older members can/should also post a paragraph or two about themselves.

Also, avoid discussion in this topic if possible.

Might as well start;

Hello, I am Jethro Q Walrustitty, at the moment, 20 years of age, and from the exotic land of Finland. I'm a first year student in english at my local university, and I'm not doing a very good job at it, seeing that from the recommended 43 study poinst per year, I've racked up 16 by now.

I've loved reading, and watching TV since I was a kid, and allready then I was somewhat aware of certain structures, like how Nancy Drew books allways had the arbituary mini-cliffhanger at the end of each chapter. I found this wiki after I complained on one forum, on how the supposed 'intelligence' agencies and criminal 'masterminds' couldn't build bombs that don't beep/tick/blink/have a visible timer/visible explosives/all of the above, and another user (plague be upon his house), linked me to a few relevant articles, and one link lead to another, and here we are today.

I still read books every now and then, Pratchett, mostly, but I've passed my prime with that hobby. I also like Animu, which I got into through Sailor Moon, DBZ and Magic Knight Rayearth (and Silver Fang years before that, but that was before I even knew there was a place called Japan), though, there was a gap between initial introduction and really getting into it (Death Note got me into anime more big time, it, and this wiki). I also watch a lot of other kinds of TV, but besides Life On Mars, there are few series I watch for any other reason than to snark about it (speaking of which, CSI starts in five, so I have to hurry). I'm very staunchly to the left, politically, and resigned from the church on my 18th birthday. I listen to a lot of music, which a lot of people say, but few really mean. I've only went to the cinema to see a movie a handfull of times on this millenium, less than once in a year. I don't really like chocolate, and I don't have a favourite colour, nor do i really like long walks on the beach.

the statement above is false

Ruben was born in 1981 and lives in Manila. Due to contractual obligations, he hesitantly endured an Applied Physics course in college until the decision to continue was no longer his. Then, after completing an Arts degree at University of the Philippines, he trained and worked as a background artist for Toei Animation (For One Piece and Pretty Cure), did advertising storyboards and a bit of teaching in between. He now works for private commissioners and a comic book agency.

He is an avid fan of SF and Fantasy stories, which greatly influences his art.

A little puzzled, or possibly squicked, by what an 'introcuction' might be. It sounds like a medical procedure in which you have something installed in your cuc.

I think I'll elect to leave my cuc as nature intended it to be.

Actually, an introcuction is a defensive mechanism whereby toxins are injected into cells. They attach to non-coding, non-template segments of DNA and stimulate replication of these segments at a massive rate in order to deprive cells of nucleotides, preventing them from replicating and thus causing the victim to shrivel to death.

It's clever because the victim doesn't know they've been attacked, so they don't seek medical help until it's too late.

I'm relatively certain it's a typo.

Anyway, my name is Ruthie and I'm not a new member... I am, however, addicted to TV Tropes. I'm currently sixteen and about five sixths years old and (for the next week or so) a high school senior. I love stories (in all media and especially SpeculativeFiction with likable characters), and I like analyzing things. These two things probably contributed to my like of this site. I'm an idealist, and I try my best to be nice to everyone. My sense of humor tends towards puns and word jokes (for lack of a better word) although I also sometimes appreciate satire. I'm an amateur writer, although the only feedback I've gotten has been from my Mom and Best Friend I don't know if I'm any good or not. When I grow up, I think I might want to be a high school English teacher... I also wear glasses; whether this makes me a Meganekko or just someone with NerdGlasses is up for interpretation.

Oh, and Welcome to TV Tropes Fora, everyone, and I hope you have a great day .

I'm Tangent128, an 18-year-old senior as of the post date. I'm more into the mathematical side of trope analysis, myself. Also on the Idealistic side of the scale.

Naturally, I like Trope-filled media, with a special taste for absurdist humor, situational humor, observational humor, humor humor, What Do You Mean, It's Not Awesome? and the Rule of Cool in general. This includes a lot of webcomics.

Other interests include video games, web development, raytracing, and eating.

Never thought I'd be introcucting myself at such a young age. I blame the trans-fats. They're the health scare du jour, I believe.

I can't believe that anyone would care much but here goes: I'm 21, Oregonian. A QRZ search on my amateur radio call KD 7 ZHP reveals more than I'd like known (it's out of date anyway). I study electronics at college. Just look at my avatar. It's my favorite circuit. Yes, I don't have a favorite TV show or movie or song, but I do have a favorite circuit. For the last month I've been taking a break from YKTTW. Mostly I fix new pages and browse randomly for errors. Most of you newbies have had me add the "The Contributors" trail markup to your user page. I revel in the massive nerdity of this site. Look at my user page for my contributions, if you're so inclined. Adam850

I'm 23. I'm currently in Georgia, USA; I've moved around so much I don't consider any one place "home".

I really like reading, but of late I haven't been doing it as much as I should. Right now I'm big into webcomics and the occasional comicbook. My musical tastes lie mostly with the artists on the fringes of the "Christian music scene", but I'm trying to expand my horizons.

I came to the wiki from the Truth & Beauty Bombs forum (the Dinosaur Comics fan forum); it was Justin "Wonderella" Pierce who posted the link.

My contributor page is here: Meta4.

I didn't write any of that.

I am anonymous username, 24 year old Norseman, and pretty satisfied about it. Been browsing the TV Tropes wiki for a while, and eventually got so enamoured of the wit and wisdom that I felt compelled to join the foru- sorry, the fora. My interests include trivia, human psychology, music, literature, the intriguing question of why sports is such a big deal, and video games.

I try to be a nice person because get along with people requires so much less effort than maintaining hostilities. It's a pleasure to meet you all, except those of you who are secretly really awful people - which is hopefully none of you.

I go by the name Vampire Buddha. On Tuesday, I will have finished my science course at university specialising in microbiology; in approximately three weeks, I'll know if I have a degree. After that, I have to find a job. Yikes.

I came to this site while Googling Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and soon fell in love with it. I'd like to thank it for introducing me to all sort of anime.

I'm 22 years old and vary between idealism and cynicism. I dislike liberals, conservatives, moderates, libertarians, and anarchists.

Hi guys, I'm Carl, aka cg12345 (how clever ), and I just recently worked up the chutzphah to GetKnown. I'm a 25-year-old from Montreal, Canada, who's about to start work as a video-game tester, which is the field I eventually want to work in (games, not testing). Expect a lot of Videogame Trope additions from me in the future. Interests include video games, TV, film, computer graphics, literature, Ancient Rome, and movie soundtracks. And tropes, natch. Before I got known, I started up the {{One-Woman Wail }}trope, of which I am still ridiculously proud of, and am still trying to drum up interest for "Guatemalan Insanity Peppers", the food equivalent of the GargleBlaster. I'm a big {{James Bond }}fan, also like StarTrek, StarWars, FawltyTowers, {{Doctor Who }}and its spinoffs (I will pimp Faction Paradox to my last breath, see if I don't!!), Supernatural, Rome, and House.

I'm Rock. I have a contributor page that says some things, which I tend to change.

I'm cynical, because I like to think that makes me a better person. I try to help people, whether they realize it or not, but I'm mostly just around for my own entertainment. I'm a legal adult, I live in America, and people have told me that I'm very good at doing voices and sound effects.

My name is Sharysa. I'm 18, female, and generally very laid-back and tolerant. I am a theater/art/book geek with a penchant for writing, and I frequent both Live Journal and My Space.

I also have a very sarcastic sense of humor.

Heh, yeah. We're really laid back. There's no reason for hackers to attack this site; it's not enough of a challenge to appease them.

Oh yeah? You do? Well find something sarcastic to say to Leradny's "writer" thing, 'cause I completely drew a blank.

I'm Greenvenom, and I'm here to sell you insurance. Now, I've got a plan that I think will suit you the best, and it starts at just $75 dollars a month, for half a month... Alright, enough of that. I'm 20, live in Oregon, am going to be a janitor until the end of the month, an aspiring writer with a dream of becoming a radio talk show host. I still haven't figured out which is less plausible. I found Tvtropes through a mix of Metal Gear Solid and asses. Seriously. I've lurked around the net for quite a few years, and decided to settle down in this interesting corner of these grand series of tubes. I've also been in a direct-to-dvd movie and manage to not get paid.

Oh, I just think a life of poverty and utter disappointment would be more interesting then, say, getting a REAL job. It also helps that I have virtually no other marketable skills, other than maybe a day laborer, but I don't really like the sun.

Hey now, that's just a stereotype, not all people who work in radio are ugly. The salespeople have to look somewhat decent in order to convince advertisers that the fat slob behind the microphone, living off Bagel Bites and Top Ramen, is a viable source of entertainment.
