Heh. Panel 2 really probably is emblematic of the fanbase right now. Of course, I get that way in a lot of conversations where people are talking around their problem, or have already switched to pronouns even though they never actually introduced the subject...
I made a powerful creepy amoral occasionally homicidal insane friend! Yay...?
NP should be up in a few minutes, but I'm getting me head down for now.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.^.^ I am just so happy right now because Pandora finally has a friend and doesn't need to have elaborate one-sided conversations with nobody anymore.

Writer, or something. The only half-immortal she knows of is Raven, so she'd probably consider this possibility no matter how much sense it did or didn't make.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeStill, Holy Bat Deduction Adam West!
That's not a leap at all, especially since she stated it as a question.
I know an Immortal. She has a son. I know a half-Immortal. He is male.
"I wonder if they're related?", is a logical inference. It's a lot more logical than, "Oh, you're from Chicago? I wonder if you know my friend Bill, he's from Chicago too!"
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. It still feels like a leap to me, especially since Sarah doesn't even know Raven. She's just heard his name mentioned by Grace.
Shive links to the strip where Grace and Jerry very briefly discussion Raven. That would have been a good place to lay groundwork for this deduction; had Jerry bothered to mention that Raven is the son of a deranged Immortal who's postponed her reset, then this would be a perfectly reasonable Fridge Logic deduction for Sarah to come to.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.This being Shive, I'm sure we'll get a panel or two of Sarah explaining her reasoning
It feels like a leap because we readers know that she's right.
If she knew of more than one elf, then it would be a leap to land on Raven. but let's face it, the second, "Gee, I wonder who her son might be?" wanders through her mind her brain has only one option to jump on.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Well, first and foremost, I will note that Sarah isn't actually certain in the last panel, which takes away at least a bit the Bat Deduction vibes. People are prone to making connections based on inference and shaky information in the first place - it's why Wild Mass Guessing is so popular around here, after all. If you presume that Sarah has a certain baseline of underlying information (and it was noted in the commentary that she has that baseline), it's not a completely unrealistic question for her to ask.
Even putting aside the gender clue that potentially narrows it down more, Sarah knows of five immortals. Even before this, it wouldn't have been outre for her to have idly wondered "I wonder if Raven is related to one of those five?" (Admittedly, given that Jerry didn't imply any sort of relationship with Adrien when Sarah met J, highly unlikely that he was related, but still.) In short, her question in the final panel is narratively convenient, and maybe took a few too many beat panels to get to, but it's not even the biggest leap I've seen made in this comic. I think that one can be let go.
As a side note, I finally conquered the issue of "toothpaste spit on my clothes" by just brushing my teeth in the shower. I'm standing in a giant sink anyhow, and I need time for my conditioner to properly set before rinsing it out, so might as well do dental care while I'm waiting.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I have never had an issue with getting toothpaste on myself when brushing my teeth.
I think Dan needs to spit harder.
Old Strip but one that reminds me of my love for some of Shive's humor.
Jerry (and Grace) did say that Raven was half-Immortal in Sarah's presence. She probably never bothered to wonder who his Immortal parent might be until another Immortal said that they had a child.
Oh, that's good. I'd hate to find out she's been screwing with people in a non-canon story.
Gah, don't look, knock first!

"Tedd, I have come to apologi—- ACK! Put that thing away before you choke someone!"
"Sorry! Sorry! I was thinking about Grace!"
Oh, like Pandora hasn't seen all that before. She's super-interested in Tedd and knows absolutely no boundaries whatsoever that she hasn't put in place herself. You might as well stop Tedd from seeing himself for all the good it'll do.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I really, really hope Pandora is about to go full on exposition fairy on us. There are a lot of things that need some 'splaining, guesses to confirm or Joss.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.I've been turning out some fanfic lately, mostly of the El Goonish Shive variety.
There's this one - in which Tedd and Grace get hitched - and this one - in which Tedd-as-Tess and Elliot-as-Ellen meet in a stereotypical yuri anime setting, complete with a crazy upper-class boarding school and an absurdly powerful student council president.
Just thought I'd put them up where I can. I'm not too sure where the story's going lately, so I haven't had much to say, but the comic still means a lot to me.
