@Souther: My issue isn't that his appearance, given the context of the show, is completely inexplicable, though I do feel like if he is Lelouch, they'd have to go through a lot of mental gymnastics to explain it. Its more I feel his prescense takes away from the other characters. The dude's a total Black Hole Sue, he rearranges the universe wherever he goes. And I'm just afraid that having him here will damage Akito's unique identity which so far has managed to have a substantially different tone than OG Geass.

I mean maybe his presence fits smoothly into the framework Akito has created so far, but to me him being in it raises more caution than it does excitement.

I prefer the Lelouch-lookalike theory that jives with overall CLAMP mythology.

that it does, that it does, considering how Clamp despite only doing designs for Code Geass are the master's of coming up with really weird stuff and mind screwing stuff a swell, as Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles showed a lot.

I'm just amused that on Pixiv, pornographic Suzaku/Julius fanart is already a thing.

Japanese fans work fast.

To be fair, here's how you make Julius/Suzaku fanart:

1. Find/draw Suzaku/Lelouch fanart 2. Give Lelouch an eyepatch

2a. Sometimes Lelouch already has an eyepatch. If this is the case, add dangling bits.

That is perhaps not the best choice of words when discussing porny art.

People will know what I mean?

Scratch that, I order you all to think of Lelouch's hat when reading that! Think that kind of accessory.

Started Ep 2 of Akito. I kinda don't get why the Europeans refer to the Japanese as Elevens. Why would they use Britannian nomenclature? I mean I get they don't care for them much as refugees, but it just strikes me as weird.

Also yeah, the look of contempt from Suzaku pretty much gave away that "Julius" is Lelouch.

I also kinda wish the regular Europan forces were portrayed as somewhat more competent than they are, but that's just me. Don't they realize they're in an existential conflict with the Britannian Empire?

Didn't the Free Planets Alliance have similar problems when they fought the Galactic Empire?

Never watched it so I wouldn't know. Either way I find it way too on the nose.

The Free Planets Aliiance had way more episodes than Akito the Exiled, so even if the overall outcome is the same, the pace is different entirely.

Why does "Julius Kingsley" even exist?

Lelouch's initial Geass is his left eye. They look alike AND are voiced by the same voice actor. There's a time gap between R1 and R2, though I don't remember for how long, but nonetheless, it's there.

If it wasn't him, then it feels like an unnecessary addition to the plot. Lelouch getting turned into an ordinary student for x number of years worked, but now there's the possibility that he was either: A) cloned, B) hypnotized into a military advisors, or C) had a fraternal twin left unmentioned in canon. Regardless, at the end, these choices were eliminated and never spoken of again, or for some reason, Charles's Geass worked twice and they decided to hypnotize Lelouch again, starting R2.

They could've done this arc without including Lelouch at all.

It's not like I think they should be uber competent or anything; I just think the whole 'hurr durr decadent democracy' thing needs to be toned the fuck down, its an angsty college student's attempt at social commentary and an excuse for cheap character archetypes just so you can go "Hey, we have Grey-and-Gray Morality!"

It's Lelouch. There's absolutely no question about it. The look of contempt Suzaku gives him on the train basically confirms it to me.

I am not that peeved by it here. Democracies tend to get bogged down by partisan politics, populist hacks, and a perfectly indolent oligarchy. No, I am not bitter a moneybags used populism to erode the separation of powers of the state in my country.
