Comic for Monday, May 22, 2017: sneaky gate permalink
This is an automated program that checks the Sneaky Gate every 5 minutes. source codeHas anyone suggested that we have come to the end of a story arc? Does the next one entail a voyage to Her Undying Majesty's England?
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Hm, they've done things like that before. Have the volume end on a dramatic note, then the next volume starts, and a few pages in there's a flashback to what happened. The end of the Sturmhalten arc/beginning of the Mechanicsburg arc, for example.
isn't 98 pages a little short?
Things from the last two pages I miss and wish would reappear sometime soon: Moloch. Krosp. Agatha's stripey socks.
Trump delenda estA lot of forces seem to be fond of striped socks in the world of Girl Genius. If Agatha continues with the traditional Jager method of clothes "shopping," I'm sure they'll be back sooner or later.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I've been wondering something for a little while: Do we know where Clank!Lucrezia went? Zola seems to be leading the Other's forces as the Queen of the Dawn, and Gil implies that there are other copies of Lucrezia running around, but Klaus didn't know about any of that. All he knew was that there were only two copies: Agatha and the clank. Is it possible that he brought her down with him when he landed in Mechanicsburg and locked her in the time stop thinking that the Other would lose all her key pieces?
You mean, the copy of Lucrezia inhabiting Anevka's former clank body? No; I don't think we've seen her at all since the Time Skip.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. The last time we saw her she was managing Klaus in the Mechanicsburg Hospital. Since then, not even a mention.
I disagree. Klaus made it back to Castle Wulfenbach, which was outside the range of the time bubble (to be, at that point) and she had every reason to stick close to him, and no reason to stay in the hospital/Mechanicsburg. She could be anywhere now. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it turns out she's been on Castle Wulfenbach all this time.

http://www.mansionofe.comAh, yes, Geoduck is right. The Tethercat Principle strongly suggests that the instance of Lucrezia in the clank body then would be just as stuck in the time bubble as the rest of Mechanicsburg. She technically could have gotten out, but I think the suggestion was that she was deliberately trying to stay close to Klaus, which would further point to "still in the time bubble." It's not completely outrageous to think that she somehow realized what Klaus was going to do and got out, but I guess the smart money is on her being caught between the seconds, so to speak.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I think 32 is saying that while yes, she followed him to the Castle, she might have intentionally stayed close to him and followed him back down to the ground. That was basically what I was thinking, though maybe with some more trickery. We have a lot of unanswered questions regarding the final moments before the time stop. I remember when this strip was first published, we thought that maybe Klaus had managed to Loophole Abuse his orders because Lucrezia never specifically ordered him not to surrender.

Discar has my line of thought correct. After all, clank Lu did have a reason to stay in Mechanicsburg - Klaus went there. If she didn't know that Klaus was about to activate the Take 5 bomb, in fact, she'd have no reason to suspect that getting out right then would be her wisest move.
This isn't to say that clank Lu definitely is there right now - maybe something else came up, maybe she did have reason to believe that Klaus was going to pull something like that, maybe she just got a hunch that she should skip town and return later - but from what we know, the odds favor her being in the bubble.

This is an automated program that checks the Sneaky Gate every 5 minutes. source codeMy feeling is that Klaus' capsule was a one-person vehicle; so I doubt Lunevka was there.
So who moved Voltaire's body? Did he manage it on his own? Colette? (then why didn't she prevent the attack?) Some street cleaner clank?
So, the street wasn't clear, just Tweedle grabbing all the oxygen. Rather risky of Beausoleil, since there are usually people on the edges of crowds looking around.
I suspect that once a guy becomes about 99% city, it stops really mattering what happens to the other 1%.
Okay, I'm laughing.
The question is is this a Batman exit or another disappearing from the scene trope.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettSigh. As much as I love GG overall, sometimes Phil's continuity sloppiness.. if this is supposed to be a "the body disappeared" situation, and that's the same tilted lamppost-thing in both strips.. it doesn't look remotely the same in the two shots. In fact, the whole scene doesn't match up at all.
And I stand by my prediction. Clank-Lu did not accompany Klaus down to the surface, and she is not inside the time-bubble. (Although it's certainly possible that she was never on board Castle Wulfenbach, but just sent Klaus back there with what she thought were iron-clad orders while she went elsewhere.)

http://www.mansionofe.comCue Voltaire pulling a "Taking you with me" move... or the "you forgot whom had all those backups" to end with a you have outlived your usefulness.
Well here goes nothingThis seems like a pretty straightforward Resurrection allusion.
"He is not here, for he has arisen." -Matthew 28:6
Random thought: Voltaire got stabbed through and through -but how much was original flesh and blood and how much was reconstruction as he aged?
I'm minded of a Fairest comic where the evil fairy told the Snow Queen that she long ago rearranged her vital organs (because otherwise that would have been a lethal strike).
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettThe page where things get very spectacular shows the Jeagers getting Agatha out of the spotlight in the corner of the big parade...there's a chance she saw and grabbed the Master when he wasn't looking as she was getting away.
If she did, she knows about a new enemy.
I'm with Keyaka on this. Just killing off the remnants of Voltaire's body doesn't mean killing off Voltaire. Now he IS the city and Beausoliel is in trouble.
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!@49815 Klaus' capsule was (probably) a one-person affair, but we've had countless opportunity to see that there are multiple methods to leave Castle Wulfenbach. If Lu wanted to follow, she easily could have.
For today's comic... you'd really think that Beausoleil would know better than to assume that someone who clearly has demonstrated a distributed consciousness and intelligence is going to be dead just because you've broken/destroyed/killed one particular interface. I know he's not a Spark, but it seems like he picked up an Idiot Ball on the way.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. But remember the surprise that the capsule eluded all the defenses, they felt that was pretty unique. Plus, I don't see any particular reason for Lunevka to follow Klaus around, she'd just give orders and expect them to be carried out.
Which could be a variation of the Hates the Job, Loves the Limelight trope in itself.
Well here goes nothing
