First impressions.
That Heterodyne badge must have set off all kinds of alarms within Prende. It can't be possible that the old Storm King is still around after all this time?
Well, there is a time-manipulating lantern that apparently shouldn't be moved.
Hey, the muse's clothes and hair got incinerated when it shocked Madwa, just like when Anevka did it.
Greybeard Fan: Yes, that's definitely Prende. It's been confirmed in the print novels and in the "Muses" card deck that the Foglios did for a game company. The globe is probably an armillary sphere.

http://www.mansionofe.comWhat about the Heterodyne card entering into play? Dunno if Prende has any idea on how much time she has spent guarding the lamp... that is another thing.
Well here goes nothingMy guess is that Prende believes that since Agatha is wearing the Heterodyne badge she must be representing a male Heterodyne claiming to be the Storm King. A female Heterodyne being such an odd concept that it was very difficult for our girl to establish her bonifides. There is no way Prende can come up with information about Tarvek from this few seconds of conversation.
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!It seems the built-in electroshock device is something that van Rijn added to all of the muses (and got carried over when Tarvek built Anevka a body based off of them).
It occurs to me that probably that feature wasn't intended to be an offensive shock dispenser, but rather a handy dandy instant clothes disintegrator.Van Rijn would be outraged to see his creation so misused.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.More likely its was a very polyvalent "power management component" that regulates where the electricity goes and at which power...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Nah, the instant clothes-remover guy was Dr. Bunbury. Although I suppose there's no reason van Rijn couldn't have his own version.
Hrm... one thing that struck me about looking back on the comic where the fresco of the Muses was shown...
Master Payne was certain that most of the Muses had been dismantled. That said, we've now seen four of the original nine (okay, five of the original ten, if we're also counting the Muse of Time). Otilla, Moxana, Rinka, and now Prende. I'm starting to think that none of the Muses are actually destroyed. Maybe, like Otilla, they're in new bodies or the like, but we'll eventually see all nine. Payne thought he knew what happened to them, but the Muses may be even more important than they first seem.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. So uh... I was inspired by last Wednesday's page and I made a thing. <_<
Sorry not sorry, Aldin.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableHe looks so grumpy!
Power cables ran from the waterfall to keep the lantern powered? Lantern needed to counter whatever that globe is, which is the real danger and what the old Heterodyne invented? Also, whatever are they going to do with a captive smoke night, that is, if they can actually keep her captive. She might have already killed the other two knights, you know.
Hmm, good point about the lamp possibly being there to contain the glowy sphere thing, and not the other way around.
I'm looking to tomorrow's page, there should be much more exposition! We'll finally hear first-hand accounts of what's been going on in the Storm King's days (if you don't count that Jäger Martellus shot).

I wonder who our skeletal friend might be out of the last panel. Maybe the lady of the red lantern ?

It's most likely the Storm King, kept alive in his last moments by the lantern, which is why van Rijn was so obsessed with the Muse of Time. Thus explaining why Tarvek cannot be the Storm King, for the Storm King yet lives!
Until Madwa moved the Lantern.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. That's certainly seeming plausible at the moment, and it would explain why Prende is so certain that they're wrong about Tarvek being the Storm King (despite the fact that they are telling the truth as far as they know - from her perspective, they are not in possession of all the facts).

A Friday cliffhanger. Of course.
Anna priddy gud wun, too!
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Hm, Prende's eye started working.
Also, it looks like whatever Madwa did somehow turned off/froze Prende, no?
I wonder why the Lantern shouldn't be moved? There must be a very good reason. So, with very little information, Prende dismisses Tarvek as the true Storm King. I wonder if it is due to his being trapped by time, or by her noticing that Agatha wears the Heterodyne sigil? In her time, the Heterodynes and the Storm King were not friends.
