People slip up. Jones isn't totally emotionless, you know: that's been made rather plain.
She just doesn't show what emotions she has. And, if you care, you can hobble your rational side, even while knowing you're doing so. It's the fine contradiction of thinking and feeling that makes the world go 'round.

Pretty sure that's the gravitational pull of the sun and other physics-y things.
But. yeah.
The baby bat/ Screamed out in fright,/ 'Turn on the dark,/ I'm afraid of the light.'But that case isn't different from any of her other names. She is shown to always take them when offered by somebody with feelings for her. That would mean that the whole line of names is made from "slip-ups" like that - and that's improbable. Much more likely is that she doesn't care about the objective of "get new name to evade suspicion" at all, but takes all her names out of feelings.

What's the deal with the ghost puns?
संसारIt's probably to celebrate Halloween. And those kind of jokes are completely in character for Mort.
I didn't write any of that. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Jones interacted with these people in large part because she wanted to take their names and identities. Under normal circumstances I don't think you'd ask someone to take your name, but it seems to happen to her regularly. So I could see her having done to that Jones guy what she's going with Eglamore now. And perhaps in ten years a dying Eglamore will ask her to take his name as well. Or old man Eglamore will do it in thirty.
Once every 20-40 years or so isn't all that regular.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Well, no, across the time frame it's pretty regular. It's just not frequent.
"The marvel is not that the Bear posts well, but that the Bear posts at all."Prior to this, was it any doubt that Jones was immortal?

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterThe kid already has an eyepatch! He's like eight or something, that is too young to be missing an eye.
That is one bad ass toddler. And he may have had an infection or something that made him lose an eye.
And whatever Jones' deal is, it has something to do with raising and/or caring for children.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectOkay, that last panel was adorable. WHY? HOW?????? Tom you can't just go and make me suddenly find this situation cute, you can't do that to me.
And I think Jones is a serial husband-raiser.
Even if none of them (that we've seen) are actually her husbands, you know what I MEAN.
The baby bat/ Screamed out in fright,/ 'Turn on the dark,/ I'm afraid of the light.'I don't know, did Tom ever debunk the idea that Jones went to school with Annie's mom and co.?
GAH it's Marvel 616 Nick Fury!
he's white.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartMo' like Marvel1602 Nick Fury, given the time period.

I don't think he debunked that per-se, but people were thinking that Jones was in the photo with Annie's mom and he debunked that.
I have to say, Jones sure picked an... interesting way to spend eternity. I'm pretty sure if I was immortal, I wouldn't spend my time working into the good graces of well-off people of the opposite-sex at the ground floor to eventually inherit their estates. I certainly wouldn't do it multiple times.
Your funny quote here! (Maybe)Assuming she told Old Sam the truth, she doesn't care about the estates. I'm not sure Mr. Jones was well off, either. His clothes looked like the same kind of work clothes she was wearing.
I don't think she's collecting their estates, I think she's collecting bits of their souls.
Trump delenda estJones is a Dementor
ophelia, you're breaking my heartMaybe that's how she stays immortal.

Yeah, but I meant the name and identity of that specific Elizabeth Langdon that got her caught.
If she was changing names to evade suspicion, she failed horribly.
