YMMV: YouTube Poop

  • Accidental Nightmare Fuel: The ending of Jon's Dilemma on Cookies.
  • Awesome Music: Has its own page of YTPMVs
  • Base Breaker:
    • Ear Rape being used in poops. It was originally regarded a staple in YTPs, but nowadays, opinions divide between whether its annoying and a tell-tale sign of a Spaghetti-Dinner poop or Actually Pretty Funny and most poopers just don't know how to use it properly.
    • Spaghetti-Dinner poops themselves. For some, they can be funny if done right, but to others they're a form of Seinfeld Is Unfunny or simply overdone. There's also a third camp who say that they can be done right, but it either takes quite a bit of effort or has to done in a way different from all the others.
    • Making sense vs not making sense. Making sense can mean many things, whether it be a plot with a Myth Arc or even just a Random Events Plot, and tell a story of some sort with it. It may also feature characters behaving in logical ways, whether all of them or just one or two. On the other end we reach True Art Is Incomprehensible territory, where there is no basic sense in it at all, and no plot at all. Which is preferred varies from pooper to pooper, with some trying to make arcs within their You Tube Poops and apply tropes to characters they use, and others simply aiming for as much nonsense as possible. It's a sliding scale for where each pooper lies, but there's no agreement which is better, and where it should be.
    • What defines YouTube Poop as a medium is also an issue of debate, and what it should mean as a whole. This especially applies to those who started from the beginning, where its overall aim was to drag users to something hat made no sense, and just confused and frustrated viewers looking for other videos, as a form of Dada. Others keep up the nonsense and prefer to amuse with it, taking it into Surreal Humor territory. A third don't enjoy being too nonsensical, but will still amuse with the basics of editing the videos to entertain, especially with characters being In Name Only versions of themselves.
  • Big Lipped Alligator Moment: EVERY, and I mean EVERY (even the more plot-based poops), one of them has these. It even has its own page.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The more vulgar and/or violent varieties of YTP often apply this. This YTP, where the king starts shooting people over what to have for dinner, is be an obvious example.
  • Discredited Meme/Overused Running Gag:
    • Many older Poopers view the CD-I and video game cartoons — as well as various memes — as overused.
    • Using Windows Movie Maker as the medium for making such videos due to the lack of features and effects other programs such as Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas have.
    • There's also the opinion that proclaiming in a video's title or description that it's a Poop defeats the entire purpose of Pooping: subversion.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: People have gotten offended at the 9/11 jokes found in cartoonlover98's poops. More often than not they lampshade this, however.
    • However, 9/11 jokes date from even earlier in the CDI era of poop.
    • EmperorLemon has used similar jokes relating to the Concorde and Flight 370.
    • An old Dr. Rabbit poop features a video of the Concorde exploding.
    • There are also some AIDS and cancer jokes in some of the CDI poops.
    • Not to mention the constant squick in the more vulgar poops.
    • Ebola jokes joined the fray in October 2014.
  • Fanon: Some concepts not present in the source material have transcended the videos they originated from to become commonly accepted in almost any poop.
    • Hyrule's royal family living in Ludwig's Castle Hotel from Hotel Mario is one example. Some Poopers change the name on the castle or remove it, but others, even a few who use Sony Vegas and easily could, leave the name intact.
    • King Harkinian's "Munf Munf" cereal is another that has transcended to become fanon, as well as his "Dinner Blaster".
  • "Funny Aneurysm" Moment: In Mako Explores His Sexuality, Amon announces over the radio that he'll call upon Obama to shut down the government...a year before the actual shutdown!
  • Gateway Series: Some Poopers intentionally go out of their way to avoid using popular sources, and this can lead to fans looking up the originals.
    • Even the CD-I games and Dr. Rabbit were pretty obscure before Youtube Poop came along.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff:
    • There is a thriving scene of Russian Youtube Poop.
    • Same with Poops in Spanish.
  • Growing the Beard: Common. For example, compare this poop with this poop, created nearly two years later; the latter features some of the best sentence mixing this side of Walrusguy and it replaces the excessive "Mah boi" jokes with a plotnote .
  • Harsher in Hindsight: in "Mako Explores His Sexuality" Amon calls on Obama to shut down the government, and the video was posted over two years before the actual shutdown happened.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In No Swearing, ThePlamzJoker's meta-licious entry for The Clean Rosen Collab, Michael realizes he violated the collab's family-friendliness rules after he murders the man telling him to stop swearing. What makes this funny was that DaThings1's entry, The OUTing, was all about a teacher murdering her students.
    • Similarly, ChickenPika made two versions of his entry The Useless Outing, clean and dirty. Both involve a scene where Michael gets fed up at a student named Eileen and throws her out the window. In the clean version it says "She survived because this is a clean YTP", as apposed to the dirty one where it says "SHE FUCKING DIED".
    • A scene in AwfulFawful's Friendship equals Magic x Ponies^2 has Scootaloo eating what looks like a Krabby Patty. Jump ahead to nearly 2 years later with the episode Twilight Time, where burgers do exist in Equestria, made from hay of course, and Twilight Sparkle binge-eats on several hay burgers.
  • Love It or Hate It There doesn't seem to be much of an in-between area.
  • Memetic Molester: Thanks to Youtube Poop, Dr. Rabbit is one.
  • Nausea Fuel/Squick: Michael Rosen pooper WonkyTonkBotty LOVES these tropes:
  • Seinfeld Is Unfunny: Older-generation poops can be seen as this, particularly those that use what are now considered overused sources or memes. Repeated usage of "Mah boi", "Gay Luigi", etc. is now so old-hat that even most amateur poopers don't go for them anymore.
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: The less you know what's going on, the more you'll enjoy the videos.
  • Watch It for the Meme: Some call it worth watching because of how preposterous it is.
