- Faux Symbolism: The yin-yang inspired statues of the royal sisters, and Arcanus recalling that some historians spoof the symbol's meaning with blue and orange are both subtle jokes that play off the names of those tropes without really symbolizing anything.
- Hilarious in Hindsight / Jossed: Celestia states in chapter 2 that Luna would detest the notion that her night represented evil. This chapter was published before the airing of the season 3 premiere, in which she refers to King Sombra's evil heart as being "black as night."
- The battle between Celestia and Nightmare Moon has now been shown in canon (as of the season 4 premiere), jossing the fic right from chapter 1.
- Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Despite being the premise of the original short story, most of the Celestia vs Nightmare Moon battle occurs offpage between chapters 1 and 2. All we get to see is the conclusion, which is decidedly one-sided in Celestia's favour.
