- Audience-Alienating Premise: An Darker and Edgier version of Wacky Races was not exactly something people expected. While at least 6-issue long issues were commissioned, it didn't find the same longevity as other Hanna-Barbera Beyond comics published by DC Comics that ended up running much longer.
- Designated Villain: Dick Dastardly points out that if he did the same thing in the first race we see that Penelope did, he'd be called a cheater. He's a pretty big asshole, though.
