YMMV / Virtual Boy Wario Land

Go To

  • Awesome Music: As with every game in the Wario Land franchise, Virtual Boy Wario Land has a very good soundtrack with some extremely memorable tracks. Notable contenders include the adventurous title theme, the equally adventurous and energetic themes of the first two stages, the soothing underwater theme, and the intense and dark final boss theme.
  • Cult Classic: While not a well-known game even with Wario fans, it gained a good following amongst those who do know about it, with many finding it to be one of Wario's best games and one of, if not the best title on the Virtual Boy.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: One of the biggest criticisms of the game is its extremely short length, as the game only has 10 levels and 4 bosses as a whole, and one can beat the entire game in around two hours.
  • Memetic Mutation: "It's actually a pretty good game but there's one problem. It's on Virtual Boy."Explanation
  • Vindicated by History: The game received mixed reviews at the time and was quickly overshadowed by later entries in the Wario Land series, leading it to fall into obscurity. The fact that it was on the ill-fated Virtual Boy didn't help its case and would only add to it getting forgotten, as Nintendo would rather prefer to ignore it and everything associated with it out of Creator Backlash (a mindset that still lingers on to this day outside of the occasional reference). However, in the years that have passed since then, it has grown a bit of a Cult Classic status, with many coming to appreciate the game for being one of the few genuinely great titles on the system and a good Wario Land title in its own right. Nowadays, it's common to hear cries for Nintendo to rerelease or remake it on their more successful systems as a way to give it a second chance.
