YMMV / Ukinojoe

Go To

  • Alternate Aesop Interpretation: "We Gotta Get SpongeBob Back" can be interpreted as a metaphor of the current staff of SpongeBob trying to bring the show back to its former glory.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: In "Hug The Bowz", was Bowser serious about wanting to apologize to Mario and hug him, being unaware that Mario would die if he touched him or was that his plan the whole time and was lying to Mario about apologizing to get his guard down?
  • Broken Base: For the Great: The Show season two premiere, Ukinojoe compiled the sketches in a playlist, instead of in a video. Some viewers appreciate his efforts to give the other creators of the show their proper due, while other viewers find this a less convenient way of watching the episode.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Blonic's sidekick, Blails, is easily one of the best known and most quoted Ukinojoe characters.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • "Eddsworld USA" was funny in 2011, but after Edd Gould's death in 2012...
    • Another example, but a non-lethal one. In "Game Gramps", Old!Jon had died, leaving Old!Arin to be alone. This was before Jon had left Game Grumps. And possibly the reason for this video no longer being public on Ukinojoe's channel.
    • "Star Wumpis McGumpis" has one gag that seems darker after The Force Awakens. The narrator refers to Han Solo as, "Rip", resulting in "RIP" appearing above an arrow pointing to Han, years before his murder in The Force Awakens.
    • His Rick and Morty parody video "Glaforbagrab" is a Take That! against indie animated web series that get announced but are never actually made, with the bulk of the video riffing on The Amazing Digital Circus, which had only been announced over two weeks earlier. Eight months later, Digital Circus released a completed Pilot to widespread online popularity and interest in a full series, making Joe's comments seem even more bad-faith than before.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Funny enough, SpongeBob was getting back to its former glory after "We Gotta Get SpongeBob Back" was uploaded.
  • I Knew It!: Quite a few viewers correctly guessed that "Literally Hitler" was a Poorly Disguised Pilot for a new series.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • I'M NOT A MEME! I'M MY ORIGINAL INTERNET PHENOMENON, A BLEME!
    • Remember (cartoon from the 90's)? It was a good show! You're too young to remember! IT WAS A GOOD SHOW!
      • This generation. They don't know. They missed out.
    • It alright? It not subtle or nuanced. It tasteless and lukewarm, but it alright. It reminds me of Me (X), which I like better. But same (X) more or less. "Same (X)?!" Same (X)... same (Y)!
    • WE GOTTA GET (insert show or character name here) BACK!!!
    • Dog of Wisdom. For god's sake, The Living Tombstone made a pair of freakin' AWESOME REMIXES!!! It was even featured in the infamous Important Videos Playlist.
    • YOU'RE GREEN WITH IT!!!!
    • *snaps fingers* Made ya think.
    • If you were to look at the comment section of the Eddie Murphy video, you would see people argue on which of the 1000 fictitious Norbit sequels was the best or worst.
    • How embarrassing!
    • After "Literally Hitler" was released and Audrey and Victor was announced, viewers noticed that proto versions of them had first appeared in 2009's "Naughty", and Victor made a solo appearance in "Lost in the Supermarket". Both videos were soon flooded with comments about how Victor was "handsy-boy" (a term of endearment used by Audrey and their mother in "Literally Hitler"), as well as various comments about Hitler. Those who had yet to see "Literally Hitler" were at a loss, as a result.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • All of his CGI videos, which play up every cringe-inducing way that the medium can dip into creepiness for the sake of Surreal Humor.
    • Bella has a pretty creepy nightmare in episode 13 of Great: The Show.
    • We Gotta Get Spongebob Back is really bizarre, even by Joe's standards. Then there's what Plankton does to himself at the end...
    • Literally Hitler might be the most bizarre video Joe has put out. It's about two kids who realize their neighbor is literally Hitler, who plots to kill them both. Unlike videos of this sort, or even the rest of Joe's videos, it's not really played for laughs. He outright tries to murder them without hiding it, and almost succeeds by poisoning a macaroni bowl that Victor eats to prove a point to the mother, who thought the kids were joking up until then. And the kicker? This video is a Poorly Disguised Pilot for a new series starring the two kids (Audrey and Victor), meaning we may very well see more horrific situations like this.
      • Originally, the thumbnail had Audrey and Victor being reassured by their mother. Sometime in 2019, though, it was changed to have their horrified reactions to Hitler. It was likely changed to tell new viewers "it's that kind of video".
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Joe's mainstream goodwill and popularity ground to a thorough, screeching halt in July 2021, due to him selling the "Dog of Wisdom" video as an NFT despite the demonstrably negative environmental impact they have. Upon failing to justify himself to his critics on Twitter, he opted to bully and attack every single person that called him out individually, even daring at least one person to kill themselves on a stream while laughing about it. These attacks were his self-proclaimed attempts at making statements about how much social media sucks and doesn't mean anything to him. He later demanded apologies from these people without doing so himself for his poor behavior.
  • Play-Along Meme: In the video Eddie Murphy, when it was revealed that Eddie Murphy passed away after making one thousand Norbit sequels, comments on the video has viewers debate which of the fake sequels were the best or worst.
  • The Woobie: Dipper, full stop.
