- Once Original, Now Common: At the time, the show's nature of being a sitcom that wasn't filmed in front of a live audience was a novelty, with Geoffrey Perkins (Head of Comedy for the BBC at the time) even having disbelief that it would work. Nowadays, sitcoms not filmed in front of a live audience are extremely common, so this being innovative would be lost on modern viewers.
- Seasonal Rot: The specials produced after "The Queen of Sheba" are considered to be a downgrade on the previous episodes, with the plots being broader and the characters becoming more caricatured.
- Squick: Cheryl emptying a bag full of Nana's urine into the kitchen sink, which is full of cups and plates, then wiping it up with the tea towel.
- Tear Jerker:
- Everyone cried at the end of The Queen of Sheba. To be more specific, the scene was when Nana passed away.
- Jim comforting Denise when she's terrified after going into labour.
- Unintentional Period Piece: There are a lot of references to 90s and early 2000s television shows and personalities that might be lost on younger viewers.
