* EightPointEight: Excluding anything he's reviewed for ''Classics Week'', he has only ever given three albums a perfect 10, those being Music/DeathGrips' ''The Money Store'', {{Music/Swans}}' ''To Be Kind'' and Music/KendrickLamar's ''To Pimp a Butterfly''. Naturally, he gets this reaction ''a lot.'' It's can be pretty dumb when he gets this very often for not liking something ''enough'' by people who don't seem to realize that a six-to-eight score is a good score.
** Standouts are his reviews of Childish Gambino's ''Camp'' and ''Because the Internet'', Music/JustinTimberlake's ''The 20 20 Experience,'' Music/KanyeWest's ''Yeezus,'' Arctic Monkeys' AM, {{Music/Slowdive}}'s self-titled, and anything by Music/PorcupineTree/Music/StevenWilson, Music/{{Opeth}}, or Music/{{Alcest}}. His ''[[Music/{{OFWGKTA}} Channel Orange]]'' review also gets this a lot, despite that he gave it a strong 7 (which is quite a good score).
* AssPull: Intentional to ''sheer hilarious levels'' with how the "CAL IS SAVED" episode came out.
* BrokenBase: His "NOT GOOD" series. It's either one of Anthony's best ideas and allows to him to go into more detail regarding why an album can be horrible in his eyes (ex: Corey Feldman's album) or it's just an excuse for him to bash acts he isn't fond of (as seen from the reception regarding his review of Music/Blink182's ''California'' and Music/{{Meshuggah}}'s ''The Violent Sleep of Reason'').
* BiasSteamroller: Mostly averted, but it does come up every now and then, typically either when he reviews an artist he never liked to begin with or when he feels a record lacks what he personally enjoys in a certain genre. His review of [[Music/PorcupineTree Steven]] [[Music/StevenWilson Wilson's]] otherwise-acclaimed ''The Raven That Refused To Sing'' was a [[NeverLiveItDown particularly notorious]] example of both, especially the former with his pre-existing dislike of Wilson and his approach to ProgressiveRock being ''very'' apparent throughout the review.
** He can also get [[BerserkButton quite heated]] about an album if it has a message he strongly disagrees with or finds outright offensive. His review of Music/ChildishGambino's ''Camp'' being a good example, which was ''extremely'' negative - for all the valid criticisms - to the point where it almost seems OutOfCharacter. He's never been that heated about an album before at that point, even giving Chief Keef's album and the aforementioned Steven Wilson album higher scores.
** Split also with [[Music/PorcupineTree Steven Wilson's]] third solo album ''Hand. Cannot. Erase.'', which got a ''better'' score (around 6/10, but still), but somewhere split over Anthony's thoughts on it, which were basically either praising Wilson or just criticizing him like before.
** Seems to sadly hit this with his YUNOREVIEW for May 2015, particularly when it came to Ghost Bath's ''Moonlover'', which is considered by some to be a second ''Music/{{Sunbather}}''. Anthony simply dismissed it in SarcasmMode as a watered-down version of said album. This did not please fans, who had been asking Anthony to review the album ''for months''.
** He's shown a fair amount of disinterest in most LighterAndSofter rock and metal[[note]]Specifically, the kind that de-emphasizes the more aggressive elements in favor of other aspects, such as atmosphere[[/note]], as seen in his reviews of many modern {{Shoegazing}} or PopPunk albums.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** The beginning of his ''[[Music/{{OFWGKTA}} Wolf]]'' review.
** The beginning of his ''Goblin'' review as well.
* BizarroEpisode:
** "SLIPKNOT TRACK REVIEW"
** "CAL CHUCHESTA IN A PARK"
** "Yung Lean - Unknown Death 2002 MIXTAPE REVIEW"
** Some of his reviews get this, such as his review on [[Music/LimpBizkit Limp Bizkit's]] album ''Golden Cobra'', which consisted of ''nothing'' but him eating.
** His review on ''Dark Sky Paradise'' by Music/BigSean, consisting of him constantly saying [[NoJustNoReaction "No" over and over]], even giving it a [[BrokeTheRatingScale "NO out of NO" rating]]. Even funnier when this was put on ''the album's [[Wiki/{{Wikipedia}} Wikipedia page]]''.
** His [[CrowningMomentOfFunny review of]] ''The New [=CALassic=]'' by Cal Chuchesta.
** His review of ''Angelic 2 The Core'' by Corey Feldman, in which he abandons his normal format to just do a straight up MSTing of the album, as he considered it to be too bizarre to warrant a normal review.
* CrackPairing: Anthony/MC Ride and Anthony/Cal Chuchesta.
* CriticalResearchFailure: Seen by many as the reason why Anthony's review of ''[[Music/TheWeeknd House of Balloons]]'' is one of his worst. In the video, he claims that The Weeknd is a group (it's one person), says that AutoTune was used on the mixtape (it wasn't, for the most part), and glosses over the mixtape's concepts to such extents that many were infuriated.
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: There's a rarely a moment in Fantano's channel, ''but'' one recently happened: After Anthony closed down THATISTHEPLAN, The Fader published a thinkpiece that accused him of being involved with the alt-right based on [[QuoteMine completely]] [[SarcasmBlind misconstrued]], [[ManipulativeEditing fabricated]], or [[InsaneTrollLogic downright illogical]] allegations, even going as far as to accuse Fantano of laughing along someone he was interviewing who was talking about wanting to commit sexual assault[[note]]As Fantano pointed out, as while the interview said controversial things, Fantano himself was evidently nervous and wasn't comfortable with it '''at all'''[[/note]]. The result? [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UZqIIy7pAk Fantano responds back, calmly but completely deconstructing and wrecking the entire article]].
* CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: In light of Fader's infamous article on him, Fantano's fanbase came to his immediate defense, something he took note of and thanked them repeatedly on Twitter, saying he loves them and he was so touched by their dedication to help him after something that almost ruined his career.
* EarWorm: The ''TRKRVWZ'' theme song, especially the "THESE - RE - VIEWS - ARE - OH - PINION!!!!" guitar line.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Cal Chuchesta; he doesn't appear in many videos but fans of the series love him and request more Cal videos.
* FountainOfMemes: Both Anthony and Cal. Kind of inevitable, really, [[Website/FourChan when your primary demographic is /mu/]].
* HarsherInHindsight: Like many other scathing reviews of Music/LinkinPark's ''One More Light'', his review is this in light of Chester Bennington's death. He even had to put in the comments that while he still stands on his opinion on the album, that doesn't change his own condolences to Bennington's family/band mates after his suicide.
* HePannedItNowHeSucks: Often gets this (sometimes for albums he [[EightPointEight didn't even pan]]), but sometimes [[InvertedTrope inverts]] it. For instance, he received ''a lot'' of flak for giving a moderately positive review of Music/{{Skrillex}}'s ''Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites EP''.
** He suffers this '''every time''' he criticizes a progressive rock/metal act, the most infamous being Music/StevenWilson, to the point where it comes off as a BiasSteamroller. Doesn't help Anthony is very snarky regarding how he feels progressive acts should sound like, especially with Wilson (and ''admitting'' he was never that fond of both Music/PorcupineTree and Wilson's solo work).
* HoYay: [[http://i.imgur.com/BsgtAGg.jpg This picture]] taken from Music/DeathGrips' performance at ''SXSW''. Yes, that's Anthony in the front row. With his head almost buried in MC Ride's crotch. In pure bliss. Note that besides ''Classics Week'', Music/DeathGrips' album ''The Money Store'' is the first 10/10 he ''ever'' gave.
* InternetBackdraft:
** Basically the default reaction to Anthony giving an EightPointEight rating.
*** ''The review of [[Music/DeathGrips The Powers That B]]'' is seen as this for some people. This mainly came for the fact that many fans expected Anthony to give an album he had been intensely awaiting for (mainly ''Jenny Death'') a perfect rating, but instead gave it an [[EightPointEight 9/10]]. This was mainly due to the fact Anthony had ''already'' given a perfect rating to Music/{{Kendrick Lamar}}'s ''To Pimp a Butterfly''. It doesn't help Anthony showed annoyance in the comment section about viewer's overdramatic responses to this.
*** Speaking of ''TPAB'', when Kendrick's next album ''DAMN.'' dropped, many expected Anthony to give it another great rating. To say that people were unhappy when he gave the album a [[spoiler:7/10]] rating is quite the understatement.
** ''Everyone'' was showing annoyance and frustration when Anthony [[spoiler: [[KilledOffForReal killed off Cal Chuchesta]]]], although some think it's just Anthony doing it as a long RunningGag, knowing his fans love [[spoiler:Cal]].
** Fans were ''enraged'' at not Fantano, but Youtube after Fantano decided to terminate the channel THATISTHEPLAN after their constant demonitization kept causing him to lose money.
* JustHereForGodzilla: At one point, Anthony acknowledged that many people just watch his videos to see Cal.
* MemeticMutation:
** "''10/10''" [[note]]This is basically an inside joke within fans and Music/DeathGrips fans when Anthony, who's known for his strict rating system, gave ''The Money Store'' a 10/10.[[/note]]
** "Hi everyone! [[MadLibsCatchPhrase [X]thony [X]tano]] Here, the internet's busiest music nerd."
** '''All''' of Cal's lines.
** ''TRAN-SITION!''.
** [[SigningOffCatchPhrase "Forever."]]
** Anthony's relationship with Music/DeathGrips frontman MC Ride, which has been seen by many to be in the HoYay realm.
** [[http://static.tumblr.com/68943523b62794a7d6979a3d26209e98/fy1ughw/gJcmw4dug/tumblr_static_fantano.png The Fantano squat]], which has been 'shopped the world over.
** "Anthony doesn't like [[StevenWilson Wilson]]/Prog music", a sort of running joke within some fans who feel Anthony doesn't like prog music, or just even StevenWilson due to his [[{{EightPointEight}} 8.8]] ratings on those albums.
** [[Music/{{MileyCyrus}} "Why they put the dick in the pussy?"]]/[[Music/{{Hopsin}} "Did the man who invented college go to college?"]]
** After Music/{{Zomby}} called Anthony a melon, the word has pretty much become Fantano's main nickname.
** Most, if not all of his comment sections are filled with variations of "Real niggas check the score then dip".
** From his Resist videos:
*** '''[[Creator/KarlMarx MARX]] DEBUNKED [X] YEARS AGO!'''
*** '''''RESIST [X] BABYYYY!!'''''
** His "NOT GOOD" reviews, mainly due to those who feel it's BiasSteamroller.
** The iconic yellow flannel, which lets you know that whatever album Anthony's reviewing is fantastic. [[spoiler:According to Cal, he did, however, misuse the flannel in his review of ''[[Music/KendrickLamar DAMN.]]'', when he gave the album a mere 7/10.]]
** In the light of the news of [[Music/LinkinPark Chester Bennington]]'s suicide, many have gone back to Anthony's scathing review of the band's album ''One More Light'' and jokingly claimed that his review was a factor that led to Bennington's death, even going as far as to say that Anthony had blood on his hands.
*** After Lil Peep's fatal overdose soon after Anthony posted a NOT GOOD review of his EP some fans started joking that Fantano has ability to kill people with his reviews.
* NeverLiveItDown:
** His 6/10 review of ''Music/MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy'', which many people love to mock Anthony for.
** His heavy love of Music/DeathGrips, which in itself is a meme.
** His review of Music/KendrickLamar's ''DAMN.'' is shaping up to have this effect, considering he gave it a [[spoiler:[[EightPointEight 7/10]]]].
** His accused biased behavior towards progressive metal/shoegaze/post-rock albums.
*** This especially when it comes down to his endless snark towards Music/StevenWilson.
* NightmareFuel: Oddly enough, it's happened on this show. In the beginning of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6wrqIndfJM his review of Courtney Barnett's album "Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit"]], we hear [[spoiler: Cal Chuchesta's ghostly voice crying out "Help me Anthony! Help me! [[ManOnFire I'm on fire! I'm on fire!]]"]], all while seeing Anthony twitch and have what looks like to be a horrifying flashback before shaking his head and starting the review.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: After about [[DarthWiki/FallenCreator three years of mediocre and disappointing releases,]] he regained interest in Music/{{OFWGKTA}} with the release of ''Wolf'' and Earl's 2013 output. Even moreso with the release of ''Flower Boy'', which he somewhat infamously rated higher than ''Music/KendrickLamar'', something which nobody thought would happen.
** Though he's still not anything close to a fan, he likes Childish Gambino's more recent work ''muuuuuuch'' more than ''Camp.'' It became a lot better when he happily praised Gambino's later album ''Awaken, My Love!''.
* ReviewsAreTheGospel: '''Strongly''' discourages this attitude, to his credit. Regardless of this, his reviews tend to be regarded this way at least on [[{{Imageboards}} /mu/.]]
* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: Often in his "STINKPIECE" series, which is just Anthony deconstructing biased, ignorant, and hypocritical pieces of music journalism on the internet, often highlighting flaws of the mainstream music press in the process.
* TearJerker:
** Anthony's review of ''A Crow Looked At Me'' by Mount Eerie is a more somber affair than usual. No opening joke, no Cal and no weird editing tricks are present, which given [[CreatorBreakdown the intensely personal and heartbreaking nature of the album]] is probably one of Anthony's most mature videos to date, with the description simply stating: "This album is about death."
** The shutting down of THATISTHEPLAN. Fans were surprisingly upset when Anthony vented his frustrations on Twitter in regards to shutting down the channel due to Youtube's constant demonitization of any video uploaded to the channel and decided to pull the plug. Most of his comedic/non-review retrospective stuff however goes to his fantano channel now.
** Related to the above, the website Fader publishing a hatchet job of a hitpiece attempting to paint Anthony as a [[InsaneTrollLogic racist scumbag who uses thatistheplan to advocate for mass violence against black people.]] While his fanbase jumped to his defense and Anthony [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome utterly destroyed the article in his response video]], the damage was done in certain places, and Anthony lost several contacts and was unfairly painted in several communities as racist, which he decidedly ''isn't''.
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: ''Any'' video from his second channel [=THATISTHEPLAN=], to the point where you'd think it's Anthony's second persona considering how CloudCuckooLander he is in those videos.
