YMMV / The Great Sasuke

Go To

  • Broken Base: His career since The New '10s. Most of the IWC thinks Sasuke still gives good matches, but some have no trouble with this while others believe he should retire and stop doing senile stunts before he kills himself.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: At the first Super J Cup, Sasuke was perhaps the least known wrestler in the card, but he ended receiving the biggest pops of the night, even surpassing fan favourite Jushin Liger.
  • Memetic Mutation: His mask and refusal to take it off became a meme in Japan.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The infamous botch of the Fukumen World League 2003, in which Sasuke slipped off from Jinsei Shinzaki's hands during a high-angle backdrop suplex and crashed vertically head-first on the mat. The sole picture of it is nightmarish, among other things because you cannot help yourself but remember the botched moonsault that ended Hayabusa's career. Sasuke is indeed a tough, but on top of him, an outrageously lucky guy, as his career (or even his life) could have been terminated right there.
  • Older Than They Think: Luis Miguel's song "Separados" is associated to no other than Último Dragón in professional wrestling, but Sasuke actually used it too back in The '90s. He changed it to his now signature "Integral Hard" theme after losing to Dragón in a 1994 match in WAR where the loser would be forced to change his entrance music.
