YMMV / The Flash 2014 S 4 E 23 We Are The Flash

  • Captain Obvious Reveal: the "Mystery Girl" was Barry and Iris' daughter. The only real surprise is that her name is Nora instead of Dawn. Todd Helbing was prepared for the audience having long since figured it out.
  • Catharsis Factor: After everything DeVoe has done this season, and always being ten steps ahead of the heroes, it is extremely satisfying watching both Barry and Ralph kick the crap out of the mental clones of him, and then ultimately to see the real-world DeVoe have a Villainous Breakdown as he dies in agony, with Ralph once again re-assuming control of his body—for good this time. And finally, the show barely even pretends his return as a Virtual Ghost poses any kind of threat, as Marlize casually pulls out his power source after just a few seconds.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • How could Joe so easily resist DeVoe's mind control trick when he tried to make Joe shoot himself? The answer is simple. Grodd's repeated attacks on his mind were almost akin to an exercise against weaker brainwashing powers. In fact, Grodd tried to do the exact same trick in "Attack on Central City", and it's already established back then that he's building up some resistance.
    • Why is there need for Adaptation Name Change with Barry and Iris' daughter? In the comics, Dawn Allen has a twin brother called Don. If Don will also show up later in the show, it's going to be hard to distinguish between the two of them since their names practically sound the same.
  • Fridge Horror: Ralph still being alive while inside DeVoe's conscience can make one realize that the other bus metas that DeVoe had Body Surfed through were also alive when DeVoe was inhabiting their bodies, and were slowly dying due to the extra meta powers DeVoe transferred into their bodies, finally dying after he transferred himself to the next.
  • I Knew It!:
    • Most of the fanbase had long-guessed that the "Mystery Girl" was Barry and Iris' daughter. The only real surprise is that her name is Nora instead of Dawn. That is, if fans hadn't guessed by Barry's Speed Force-induced dialogue at the start of the season.
    • It was also guessed Ralph was not gone altogether.
  • Memetic Mutation: It's unanimous that Nora making a mistake (most likely temporal in nature) is proof she's Barry's daughter.
