Big things are happening on TV Tropes! New admins, new designs, fewer ads, mobile versions, beta testing opportunities, thematic discovery engine, fun trope tools and toys, and much more - Learn how to help here and discuss here.
These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. This starts discussions in the trope lists, a thing we don't want. Please use the discussion page if you'd like to discuss any of these items.
Mordalayn fighting weaponless against armed opponents in a gladiatorial fight, rigged against him, but still winning.
Sophie's punishment of the King's Daggers. Turning them all into old men, therefore removing their ability to prey on the weak or vulnerable BUT allowing them to redeem themselves and regain their youth if they save the life of an innocent person.
Mordalayn tricking King James into positioning himself near the flight of stairs leading up to the palace. He then invokes a spell making the statues on the ballustrades come to life who form a phalanx around James and drag him up the staircase. His 1000, highly trained legion of killers can't help him as the staircase is too narrow.
Magnificent Bastard: King James of Anghofio. Someone who is willing to kill children to make a point and rewards his soldiers with gladiatorial fights in a private arena. Also Galfront Siavy, who is prepared to sacrifice his men to save his own life, or even to simply test a situation.
