- Hilarious in Hindsight: It's pretty jarring today the first time one hears someone call George "Mr. Burns".
- After George's punchline, the "Gracie's Christmas Carol", sketch is funnier now, with Disney Owns This Trope being a common joke, plus Disney owns at least two different versions of the story.
- Memetic Mutation: The ongoing gags about Gracie's missing brother got to be so popular that "Gracie Allen's brother" got to be shorthand for something that was lost and never seen again, much like Jimmy Hoffa or D.B. Cooper would be in later years.
- A Running Gag on the show was Ronnie and his pretentious drama friends' near-divine admiration for Marlon Brando, due to his turns in On the Waterfront and The Wild One. One wonders what they would've made of late career Brando.
- Spiritual Successor: Seinfeld. While many reviewers compare his show with I Love Lucy (which both the fake and real Jerrys seem proud to state they've never watched an episode of), Jerry Seinfeld has said that he and Larry David were trying for a "Burns and Allen Show feeling" when creating their show.
