YMMV / The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue

Go To

  • Ass Pull: Radio's tube is just the right kind of tube to save Wittgenstein. No matter that this tube is extremely rare, and they would have to go to Alaska otherwise to get one.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The song that computers sing about the "Super Highway". It gets a Dark Reprise later on, but that's about it.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: At the time this movie was made, efforts to preserve old electronics were still a fairly novel concept. The general idea back then was that once a computer was obsolete, it was useless and worthy of going to the dump. As the 2000s rolled on, nostalgia for old computers and old tech as a whole started gaining a foothold, and as the world became more reliant on electronics, more importance on their ancestors' preservation was realized, and Wittgenstein would easily have fetched in the thousands of dollars for any history museum due to being completely intact and in working condition; it's easy to think that in the years since this movie's release, the number of people that wanted to go to the museum he was sent to just to be able to see him would have increased tremendously.
  • Narm: The songs certainly have their share of this, perhaps most especially with "Tap Into the Super Highway". Especially with the dancing "computers", who look more like dancing pigs. Though some computers actually did look like this at the time, this makes them look somewhat like Zeerust.
  • Narm Charm: "Remember That Day" is incredibly cheesy and saccharine but is still heartfelt and even a bit moving in some parts (particularly Sebastian’s). It is also incredibly catchy.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Radio's Heroic Sacrifice. He basically removed his own heart.
    • The Gory Discretion Shot of Sebastian's arm. All we see is a distorted shadow, making it look like his arm is horribly disfigured and broken. Everyone's reactions are of abject horror, and even Kirby apologizes and sympathizes with him immediately, even though he antagonized Sebastian in the first place.
  • No Yay: Mack briefly imagining himself as Chris's boyfriend in a bout of jealousy. Imaginary!Chris rightfully slaps him for even thinking such a thing.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • Sweetness Aversion: "Remember That Day" and "Hang in There Kid" are two insanely cheerful, sugary song numbers that can feel like this to older viewers. The former song is mostly just the animals talking about how much they love Rob (and it doesn't help that we also see Kirby of all characters openly having fun in this scene, something very out of character for him compared to the first film) and the latter is quite an Anvilicious song that tries a little bit too hard to end the movie on a positive note.
