YMMV: Terrence Malick
- Creator Worship
- Critical Dissonance: Malick's films are in very high regard with critics, but audiences are much more divided, especially with The Tree of Life.
- Crowning Music of Awesome: Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line both had Oscar-nominated scores by Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer, respectively. The New World and The Tree of Life both featured mostly classical music, ranging from Wagner to Beethoven to Mozart and Smetana.
- Love It or Hate It: Egads. Either he's an incredible visionary and one of the greatest minds in cinema today or a long winded oaf with ham-fisted narration and laborious pacing. Both camps can agree that his films are very pretty, though.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: With The Tree of Life being the most prominent of his works in terms of visuals.
