For those that didn't participate, murdering the cat.
Everyone by killing Major Scott/the Sheriff. In the original it's an accident (not so much the remake), but regardless it removes any reticence Charlie and Co. have about killing David and Henry/Jeremy. For David himself, it's the final straw.
Villain Sue: Charlie. Despite being an abhorrent human being, he's still loved by everyone. It's even worse in the remake, probably as not to offend Alexander Skarsgard's legion of fangirls.
