* AdaptationDisplacement: Most people are probably more familiar with the TV-series than [[ComicBook/{{Static}} the comic book series]] the TV-series itself was based on.
* {{Anvilicious}}: "Jimmy" and "Frozen Out" are looked back fondly, but later episodes really wanted to drive their morals home to the point where it distracts from the plot.
* DracoInLeatherPants: Hotstreak and Ebon. They both have awesome powers and designs and they both frequently antagonize Static, with one of them even
* EarWorm:
** The [[http://youtu.be/vQzWni9dPSg 2nd version]] of the theme song. "Gotta be-be, gotta be a superhero!"
** Nails's theme.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Rubberband Man. Meant to be a one-off villain like he was in the comics, he was so sympathetic that he's allowed to reform and becomes a recurring ally to Static.
** Richie. He was so popular with fans that he was promoted to a superhero in the third season; [[Creator/DwayneMcDuffie Dwayne McDuffie]] once said that Richie's popularity alone was what got them a fourth season of the show.
* FanonDiscontinuity: Not a lot of fans were happy with the Superman crossover that continued the Darcy/Toyman storyline. Mainly because it made the former into a villain who was willing to take over a teenage girl's body when in the ''[[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Superman]]'' series, she was more sympathetic and only wanted a life of her own.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In one episode, Adam Evans insists on using fireworks for his concert despite the warnings from his crew about using them on a small stage. When the fireworks goes off, they end up setting the place on fire. This became a whole lot harsher when the Rhode Island nightclub "The Station" got set on fire in February 2003 during a Great White concert, and killed at least 100 people, due to a combination of polyurethane insulation and the band's use of pyrotechnics on a smaller then normal stage.
** Hawkgirl hitting John Stewart's head in "A League of Their Own". Especially when you know what happens in "Starcrossed".
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Static, in one episode early in the first season, does research on Replay from the "TV Trivia" website. [[Wiki/TVTropes Fast forward to today...]]
** Also, at the time of that episode's airing, Creator/NeilPatrickHarris was a perfect choice for that role - a washed up child star who was only known for one role. Then, a few years later, ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'' came along and shot him back into the spotlight.
** In an episode where Static worked with Batman, he noticed Robin was absent and asked where he was. Batman answers, "With the [[ComicBook/TeenTitans Titans]]. You might meet them someday". While the DCAU never made a ''Teen Titans'' cartoon, they were at least right that Static would join them in the comics several years later in ''Young Justice''.
* IAmNotShazam: He's just "Static", not "Static Shock". It's gotten so bad, even the ''comics'' have made this mistake.
* MemeticMutation: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt4A9Qg1bn4#t=101 Behbehbehbehbehbehbeh...]] [[StupidStatementDanceMix THIS CAN'T WAIT A MONTH!]]
* MinorityShowGhetto: While it was one of the highest rated cartoons on Creator/KidsWB when it aired, it could not secure enough merchandising deals to keep it alive (though it did run a respectable four seasons, a standard run for a lot of cartoon shows). It comes into this because the show's contemporaries (''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution'', ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'') didn't suffer the same problems.
* {{Narm}}: In the episode with the bullied kid who brings a gun to school, it goes off at one point. It's angled up in the air at the time, yet somehow Richie ends up getting shot in the leg. Richie's reaction to getting shot is something like "It hurts! It really hurts! [[ThisIsReality It's not like on TV]]!"
* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: {{Anvilicious}} as some of the later episodes turned out to be, episodes like "Frozen Out", "Sons of the Fathers", and "Jimmy" have messages of mental illness, homelessness, racism, bullying, school shootings and gun control - all messages that are still very relevant today.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: In "Linked", when showing the highlight reel of football star Dule Jones, they play a song that sounds very much like the theme for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbU4fPYRvcY NFL on Fox.]]
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Despite being Ebon's brother, nothing comes of the relationship between Rubberband Man and him except for a single episode. Instead, Ebon is Static's Archenemy, and the two brothers never even appear in the same episode together again. Particularly glaring because Adam expresses hope for Ebon's reform at the end of the episode, but never seems to consider it again.
* UncannyValley: The villain Ferret. His misshapen nose is just creepy.
* ValuesResonance: WordOfGod's assertion that they put a gay character in the show is rather progressive.
* WhatAnIdiot:
** In one episode, Virgil's sister, Sharon, suspects that he is Static. The problem? She blurts out his identity at every given opportunity ''in public'' while cheering him on from the sidelines. Admittedly, people were running and screaming, trying to get away from the destruction of the fight, so they may not have noticed. Still a stupid thing to do, which is why Virgil managed to disprove her using a Bang Baby's help.
** In a VerySpecialEpisode about gun violence, when Jimmy decided to lower his gun, his bullies decided to tackle him on the ground, setting the gun off, and hitting Richie. Another FacePalm worthy moment is when Jimmy pulled a gun earlier, they asked what it is.
