YMMV / Star Trek: The Next Generation S3E7 "The Enemy"

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: It's possible that Patahk only told Worf that he'd rather die than receive his blood as an act of empty defiance. We'll never really know if he, like Bochra, would have decided not to throw his life away on principle if actually offered the treatment.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: While holding him hostage, Bochra tells Geordi "You can be sarcastic now, but in a few millennia, when humans are extinct and the Romulan Empire spans the galaxy...". In about 20 years, it'll be the Romulans that are almost extinct and their empire shattered.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Geordi emphatically tells Bochra that he doesn't like sand.
    • Initially, Geordi thinks Bochra's rank is commodore before being informed that he's a centurion. On Star Trek: Picard, Geordi holds the rank of commodore.
  • Informed Wrongness: While Worf's moral stand on giving blood is debatable (and debating it is the point of the episode, supposedly), where this trope comes in is that all the focus is on his decision, ignoring that Patahk had already refused treatment. The episode turns a blind eye to the immorality of forcing someone to accept a medical treatment they don't want to instead focus on Worf's racial enmity.
