* OnceOriginalNowCommon: Back when they were first released, both this game and [[VideoGame/SonicAfterTheSequel its sequel]] was widely considered to be two of the best fangames amongst the fandom due to their near-official quality and amazing soundtracks, which was rare and impressive amongst the fandom at the time. However, as more and more ''Sonic'' fangames began to release, many of them would end up matching and surpassing them in quality, some being inspired by the two games. As a result, the rough patches in both fangames, such as the enemy placement, physics and level design, have become a lot more noticeable in hindsight. While both games are still well-regarded today (particularly their soundtracks), they no longer have the high status they used to have amongst the fandom.

* ThatOneLevel: Perilous Paradise, due to a glitch causing the amount of time you can spend underwater without air to be low, which is compounded in the SAGE 2012 release with the glitch that speeds up the air timer if the game lags, and there's a glitch in the SAGE 2012 Version where if you try to get a bubble, it might not register and you end up drowning.
