YMMV / Sliding Doors

  • "Funny Aneurysm" Moment: James' reminiscences of his childhood sweetheart who, aged 8, left him for Gary Glitter.
  • Funny Moments: Lydia's "We suggest you take the bus!" rant.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The scene with James saying that his first ever girlfriend, when they were both pre-pubescent, ended when she left him for Gary Glitter is painful to hear now that Glitter has been exposed as a sexual abuser of young girls.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This wouldn't be the last time John Hannah played a key role in an alternate universe story — how do we know that the reality in which Helen caught the train and met James wasn't actually the Framework?
  • Idiot Plot: So much trouble could have been avoided if James Hamilton had thought to say to Helen Quilley on their first date "Oh, by the way I'm separated from my first wife and we're getting a divorce, but don't worry, it's all amicable".
  • Narm: Lydia leaving Gerry in one of the timelines: "It's over! Again!"
  • Tear Jerker: Helen's death in the timeline where she made the train.
    • Also, the fact that in both timelines she lost the baby.
