YMMV / Seiren

Go To

  • Broken Base: The first arc has been criticized on the part of Amagami's fans, and was considered a mediocre copy of the original series that lacked the classic atmosphere of the franchise.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Ikuo got a lot of sympathy, being the younger brother of Ai Nanasaki of the original story, and his more influence on the story, unlike other best friends of the MC in a harem shows.
    • Tomoe, the older sister of the hero also gets the attention because of its interaction with Shouichi and hopes of the some fans on certain fanservice kind similar to the Miya from the original series.
  • Fan Nickname: You'll sometimes hear Tsuneki referred to as "Slutneki" on certain forums.
  • Ho Yay: It seems that in the first episodes, chemistry between Ikuo and Shouichi higher than between the latter and any of the girls. They even several times mistaken for gays.
  • Friendly Fandoms: obviously with other fans of Enterbrain's games and their adaptations, especially Amagami, due to the fact that events both titles taking place in the same universe.
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat: Shoichi/Hikari vs Shoichi/Tooru vs Shoichi/Kyoko. Have fun, guys!
  • Squick:
    • Notoriously, Shouichi sleep from the second episode where Tsuneki sniffing him when he is sitting on the toilet.
    • And later, the scene in the bath when Shoichi excited due to fantasies about Tsuneki when she wet herself in kindergarten uniform.
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Shouichi's relationships with the girls evolve in a realistic and organic way, averting the Rule of Drama and making those relationships all the more heartwarming and special.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The reception of the first arc of Seiren hasled some forums to be disappointed by the other two arcs, because while they explicitly have the male lead and the heroine get together, the sheer escalation of Tsuneki's arc and the open-ended conclusion made viewers think, for better or for worse, the other two would follow suit.
