• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: This story's versions of Hiroshi Sato and Mako were better received than they initially were in canon.
• The Scrappy: Draxx for leading the band of bandits that tries to kill all of the villagers on the Sato estate along with killing Hiroshi Sato, holding his severed head to taunt Asami, and attempting to kill Asami too.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
  • While readers were fine with Hiroshi Sato getting killed because he dies in canon, there were readers who felt he died a little too soon. Additionally, Asami described him as being a skilled swordsman that were never displayed onscreen and only saw the aftermath of him killing numerous bandits before getting killed himself.
  • Even though Draxx was meant to be a Starter Villain, some readers felt that he could have received more scenes or an earlier introduction to establish himself more before getting killed shortly after he was officially introduced.
