YMMV / Quick Draw McGraw

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Fair for Its Day: Baba Looey hovers near the borders of Ethnic Scrappy, but is obviously so much smarter than the *ahem* "white" horse Quick Draw that it can be forgiven.
  • Ho Yay: It's probably nothing more than narcissism, but Quick Draw and his Criminal Doppelgänger, Horse-Face Harry, will refer to each other as handsome or good-looking.
  • Memetic Mutation
    • "EEEEEEL KA-BONG!!"
    • "And don't you forget eet!"
    • Snuffles' reaction whenever he eats a dog biscuit.
    • Indirectly led to the creation of one of the most enduring catchphrases from The Howard Stern Show. Stern's producer Gary Dell'Abate was talking about purchasing an animation cel of Baba Louie, but mispronounced his name as "Baba Booey", which became his nickname from then on. It then achieved memetic status through Stern's fans chanting it when prank calling other radio shows, or shouting it out at golf tournaments whenever someone completes their swing.
  • Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: Baba Looey is beloved by Mexican fans despite being seen as a stereotype.
  • Periphery Demographic: When it premiered in 1959, the show was very popular among grown-ups as well as with kids. Same thing with The Huckleberry Hound Show the year before that.
  • Woolseyism: The Latin American dub made this show very popular among Spanish speakers. Among other things, it gives Baba Looey, known there as Pepe Truenonote , a heavy Mexico City accent, and gives Quick Draw, known as Tiro Loconote , an American accent... until their voices were changed for the later Quick Draw cartoons. In Spanish. Much funnier than the native English version.
