• What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: For some reason, this series is often listed as ‘Young Adult’, despite featuring rape, mass murder, prostitution, forced prostitution, rape and murder of children, torture and other such topics. Possibly, it’s due to the fact it is has a dystopian-like setting with a youthful heroine, which is a popular genre in Young Adult fiction since the release of The Hunger Games, but Queen of the Tearling is said to have more in common with A Song of Ice and Fire, a fantasy series well-known for its graphic depictions of violence and sex, that is definitely not for kids.
