- Idiot Hero: Heroine in this case. In the anime, Haruka tends to go off doing things by herself which leads her into trouble many times which Yakumo or anyone else have to save her. In the other versions, although she's no genius, Haruka is merely reckless; Yakumo is prone to lampshading this trait. Moreover, as the novel and Oda manga progress, Haruka becomes somewhat more cautious.
- Funny Moments: while the series isn't particularly sunny, there a couple moments that could elicit a chuckle, like Yakumo making fun of how Gotou and his wife keep getting into arguments.
- The Scrappy: The anime's Haruka isn't well liked by viewers. Even the Fansubbers don't like her
. Her reception in other versions is more mixed.
