Ban: Lem and I were once great rivals.

- Sour Admin Jerk being surprised that the player isn't surprised that he's the last Gym Leader.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: In this game, there is an Apple-type version of Gulpin named Applin. Come Sword and Shield, and an actual apple Pokémon named Applin makes its debut.
- Spiritual Licensee: Given the candy and Edible Theme Naming, this is probably the closest thing to a RPG based Viva Piñata.
- Squick: In the Gym that replaces Misty's, the water in the swimming pool is replaced with orange soda. Someone's still swimming in it.
